Time to fess up Piggy!

The silence from the Finance Ministry is deafening.

All we need to have clarified is for Finance permanent secretary Peceli Vocea  to tell us the funds available to the State to carry out rehabilitation work and how the flood affected the economy.

The damage was guesstimated at $80 million and rising.

One wonders how the spendthrift illegal regime will provide the neccessary funds for the cleanup campaign left by the recent floods.

There’s an awful lot of cash needed to ensure adequate housing, water, waste management and  alleviation of diseases is provided instantly in the affected areas.

On top of that infrastructure is a must fix asap to enable engineers and builders into the devastated areas to start work.

If the military and navy had also trained recruits to be adept at basic engineering, plumbing, building, fitting and joinery, concreting, welding, electrical wiring, geophysics (to enable them to asssess the impact on devastations and how and where to reestablish safe resettlement) they could have sped up the clean up process and at the same time save $$$$$$$$$$$$$ that is so urgently needed not only to repair the ruins but also  the rest of the Nation that is crumbling.

Armies in other countries are trained in all of the above because they are the first to go into devasted areas with medical staff.

They are paid by the taxpayers to work for the taxpayers not against them. Unlike Fiji where they are trained  and armed to guard their misguided leaders to ruin the Nation, a huge devastation in itself.

Where to now Voreqe Bhainimarama and the kisitoni military council?

You can’t train soldiers to do anything else except stand to attention with guns.

You can’t govern a small country like Fiji.

You can’t do anything right for the Nation of  Fiji that was being governed by a democratically elected government until you fools decided to overthrow it to avoid facing criminal charges and all of a sudden acquire assets and cash you’d never ever had in your lives.

How do you explain it all to a struggling Nation Voreqe Bhainimarama.

Is that why the Finance Ministries PS Peceli Vocea is silent?

Has the military squandered the Nations coffers and it’s  now bare?

    Busy! Busy! Busy!

Sorry the posting will have to do even if the Piggy is predictable!

We had to post something in a hurry to stop the talk on homosexuals.

We wanted to do it yesterday but no time.

  2. Lata Yaqona Says:

I think we should fess up!

  3. Bula Says:

Totally agree with the word ” guesstimated “

  4. Anon Says:

Definitely the coffers will be drained with a natural disaster which is unplanned for. The IG will have to redivert funds to get everything in order. If they overspend as a result of a natural disaster such as we just experienced than I dont have a problem however if there is overspending other than that, then they are as bad as the SDL which had an almost nothing left in our foreign reserves in 2005/2006. They might as well deliever rations to every Tom, Dick and Harry like the SDL did. When rations were delievered to Vanua Levu during the SDL time they asked for pental pens to write the addresses of relatives in Suva so that the DISMAC staff could deliever it on their return trip. That is just one of the abuses of rations and funds that could happen. If the IG wake up to that than they might be able to save the much needed cash.

Eventually, the lack of finance will catch up with the regime. In a situation like the flood damages, donors would have flogged to aid a democratic government. Not now, and the hope that the Chinese will chip in is naive at best. Well, we only have to wait 10 years and we will be a normal nation again.

    God bless Fiji.

@ Lata Yaqona – I think there’s absolutely nothing wrong in digressing to the subject of ‘homosexuality’ if it means impressing on idiots like ‘Jose’ that the Constitution is not some ala carte menu, where you selectively choose what you want to believe it & discard the rest (as what the military regime and their supporters are doing).

And it was amazing to finally hear his/her outburst on where s/he stands in this crisis – s/he doesn’t believe in Democracy and the Constitution? whew! Someone’s lost the plot there. Well, I guess it’s survival of the fittest and I say to the likes of ‘Jose’ – TOO BAD, so leave or I’ll continue to bury the likes of you.

  10. Jean d'Ark Says:

“Armies” … are paid by the taxpayers to work for the taxpayers not against them!

    Truezup!

What a tragedy that an organization supposed to be ready to sacrifice their lives for the nation has instead been bribed, manipulated and misled by Frank into sacrificing the nation for the benefit of their own lives and comfort!

Soldiers are paid to take orders, not to think! What a pity then that the Fiji military has become an organization paid not to think, led by a bunch of no-schools who don’t know how to think!

No wonder Fiji is being dunked deeper and deeper into the cesspool of failed nationhood by the day!

  11. kaiveicoco Says:

this is why i keep saying dismantle the army.Make one single unit of engineering corps and give them all the public works contract. They can then take part in nation building and nation repairing after floods, cyclones, rescue operations etc etc. EEZ border surveillance, boat buliding etc etc.

  12. Adi Kaila Says:

Meanwhile the Fiji Cane Growers Association, blind followers of the ig are looking for funds to bolster their declining industry.

No funds are forthcoming from the EU, so why, if the Sugar Industry as they claim was the mainstay of the Fiji economy can’t they pick themselves up and revert to their contingency plan when the going gets tough.

The Sugar Industry doesn’t have a contingency plan? Why the hell is it in business then, no wonder it’s such a failure.

Any industry or business worth it’s salt has a contingency plan in place for such times that demand is slow.

No industry should rely on funds from the EU or anyone else to prop it up forever.

Does the ig care at all, not one iota, because they cannot see past their own immediate need for gratification, illegal appointments to high PS positions without the required qualifications and experience to give the flunkies a false sense of power at the same time carte blanche on creative accounting to pay for expensive lunches/dinners, weekends at high end resorts, purchase of luxury items to show off – sa yawa.

  13. Budhau Says:

Adi Kaila – you idiots, cut your crap about the cane farmers.

Reforming that sugar industry has been in the works – even under the Qarase regime.

What the canegrowers association is saying that is that the industry desperately needs that reform now, specially with the recent floods and European Union funding that was in th epipeline and which been placed on hold.

As for contigency plans and being in the business if you cant make money – why don’t you go look at the contingency plans of al those businesses that sunk those Fijian banks – why did they all need handouts. That 20 million to Fijian Holding.

The sugar industry is in the bad shape because of the previous governments that put some incompetent folks in charge – some because of your affirmative action programme. The there those idiots who convince the landowners not to renew the leases after the 2000 victory of the FLP.

I totally agree with that as a general rule no industry or people should rely on EU funds of free money from government or foreign aid. How about you go tell that to your cousins.

BTW – I see that you now lead the discussion in here, go check out that other site and see the level of their discussion.

  14. Budhau Says:

Jean – those armies are supposed to work for the taxpayers – remember 1987. They were working for Adi Kaila’s cousins who were road side vendors – now…..they never paid any taxes, how come that army was working for them.

This army is your own creation, and now that it has turned around and bit you in the arse, you wanna complain about it.

You don’t really want to get rid of the army, do you – you are just pissed off at some people who happen to led this army. So what you really want is a change in the leadership in this army – so that it can back your “indigenous cause”…. just like Rabuka was – right?

  15. Hector Says:

When he and his cronies haved messed up regimental funds now their want to mess up the consolidated fund.
Their are not transperant with the regimental fund which his men have contriduted to with their lives on the line. I can’t see how the dum soldiers are still saying io saka to them, when their have used them as their puppet for their own personal gain.
With a disaster up their sleeves they don’t even have the brains or a plan to put in place to take care of the situation.
There is not money that is why the appeal was launched to steal from the poor for the poor.
While their fill their pockets with the funds from the people.

  16. epeli Says:

The coffer is totally empty the civil servants pays are in total screwup and they can’t complain because its a cause for dismissal? The IG are using income tax money which they collect daily. They have used up all the Government foreign reserves by the end of 2007. Nai baci la sa tu! Nai lavo sa mino???

  17. Budhau Says:

Hector wrote, “While their fill their pockets with the funds from the people.” – hey dude, they have been doing that since independence..and you realized it just now.

  18. kuku Says:

Wow now we hear that Voreqe is planning to buy tanks for the military? What else is next Air force maybe?
Seems to me he is trying to obtain military sophisticated weaponary in order to scare-off New Zealand,Australia or other democratic nations that may be planning to remove him from power? All stupid dictators act the same way Gaddaffi, Castro, etc have done it but once challenged they have no answer and immediately backdown?
Hey Budhau, no wonder your mother-Mira- calls you a BLOCKHEAD and your former wife-Sista- calls you “A BASTARD” always trying to cause idiotic arguments.
