Foreign Ministers to pressure regime
Bloggers, this is from the FBCL. SV wonders what bull shit the illegal regime will try and spin tomorrow, but we are confident that they will be like their EU counterparts and see through all the bullshit. The recent dissolving of elected Municipal Councillors is something they should take into consideration with this illegal regime. They are removing all elected people and substituting them will unelected officers who are placed to fleece these Municipalities of their monies and divert them towards the illegal regime. SV encourages the Foreign Ministers to call a spade a spade when it comes to this illegal regime! Foreign ministers from Australia, New Zealand and four Pacific island nations will travel to Fiji this week to press the military regime to restore democracy.
AFP reports the six foreign ministers will be in Fiji from tomorrow to Friday, meeting the military regime and other political figures to assess progress towards a return to democracy.
Forum leaders are due to meet in Papua New Guinea in January, where they will consider a report from the foreign ministers and decide whether Fiji should be suspended in what would be an unprecedented move by the Pacific grouping.
New Zealand Foreign Minister Murray McCully said he has been talking with colleagues from around the region about ways of encouraging Fiji back to democracy.
