A complete turn around!!!!

Thanks to Mark Manning qoute of the day  You can’t support an illegal regime , legally !

From Fijilive today

The Fiji military should accept full responsibility for what’s happening in Fiji, says a Suva lawyer.

Rajendra Chaudhry, the son of former Prime Minister and interim Finance Minister Mahendra Chaudhry, said if the military is kept in check then Fiji would not have coups.

He adds that military commander Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama should also take responsibility for the situation the country is in instead of putting blame on past leaders.

Chaudhry made the comments in reaction to Bainimarama’s statement at the public forum on the draft People’s Charter in Lautoka on Tuesday.

Bainimarama explained the dire situation Fiji is in while highlighting the failures of many political leaders, particularly in the past two decades, to provide good governance.
“He should stop criticising past leaders because none of the leaders have staged a coup,” Chaudhry told Fijilive.

Chaudhry said the country had great leaders since Independence 38 years ago like Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara, Siddiq Koya, Ratu Sir Penaia Ganilau, A.D Patel, Ratu Sir George Cakobau, Dr Timoci Bavadra and Mahendra Chaudhry.

He even acknowledged the contribution of Jai Ram Reddy, the former leader of the National Federation Party, rival of the Fiji Labour Party led by his father.

“Reddy negotiated Fiji’s current Constitution and had the mandate of the ethnic Indians to do so,” he said.

Chaudhry said Bainimarama should back his statements with facts and figures.

“He is not being well advised,” he said.

He also called on the military and police to stay away from the Charter consultation process because it could be intimidating to members of the public.

Bainimarama has yet to comment on the matter.

I’m just wondering how many faces these people have !

  2. Mark Manning Says:

It’s beginning to look like an episode , no , a whole season , out of Gilligan’s Island with Francis as the Skipper and Chaudhry as Gilligan . You’ll have to use your own imaginations to picture who depicts Mary Ann and the rest of the crew .

  3. Jean d’Ark Says:

I guess this is a marker laid down for Frank that his “No Charter, No Election” ultimatum is not indefinite and open-ended, but is bounded by the FLP’s impatience at getting back into seats of parliamentary power.

The clock is ticking Frank – and you’re still taking Fiji nowhere fast!

I’d be very surprised if he lasted past 2010 as more and more of his December 2006 chickens come home to roost.

  4. Tuks Says:

Mahendra Chaudhry is truly fully behind his son’s comment. The backstabbing has now continued and will ultimately lead to Frank’s destruvction. We have continously reminded the military and Voreqe of the need to nip the problem in the bud but somehow they have remained firm with their inaction . They now have a time tomb to deal with and must be prepared to face to full blunt of the law. The unprincipled FLP have now changed position and are now publicly declaring war against the military in their attempt to save face and regain the lost public confidence as they prepare for the next General El;ection. The military and Voreqe will be the ultimate losers when the dust finally settles down.

  5. newsfiji Says:

Rajendra Chaudhary, the military lawbreakers, the police lawbreakers, Voreqe & Labour Party should just F$#@ each other. Period.

Where the bloody hell were they, when their were people being beaten to death at the military camp, where were they when people were being made to crawl & swim in the Naqiroso Sewarage in Lautoka?

Rajen: Don’t bloody come and want to be a big mouth now because you’re all looking for a win in the next election!

  9. Save the Sheep Says:

Rajendra Chaudhary is an idiot. and that’s a fact….

  10. ispy Says:

Although it looks like Rajend has recently been hurling his acidic arrows towards Bainimarama & Co generally…it only looks that way.

Rajend’s criticisms were in fact carefully worded to strike at the heart of his new enemy within the regime – Not Bainimarama but Aiyaz Khaiyum.

Rajend’s tactic of laying the blame for the fallout from the 2006 coup on Bainimarama’s advisor is his way of trying to draw out Aiyaz to a public debate.

In the past few months, Rajend and Aiyaz have been overheard bad mouthing each other all over town.

All out war between Aiyaz and Rajend has been brewing ever since Rajend found out that it was Aiyaz who backed the move to have him charged for obstructing justice a few months ago (remember the Fiji Sports Council fiasco).

Rajend has retaliated with very public allegations that bad advice from Bainimarama’s chief legal advisor is the root cause of the intermin Government’s failure to win any FICAC cases and the current meltdown in Fiji’s judicial system.

Folks, Aiyaz and Rajend are in fact the same kind of people – they both have big egos to disguise their small weeners (Aiyaz reportedly also smokes pot regularly to distract him from his “little” embarrassment).

Can someone please please put them out of their misery…

  11. moz Says:

And who said that this coup, coup was more a “power struggle amongst the indigenous Fijians”?? Rajend is definitely giving the big hits to the advisors, Arze and Samy topping the list..and maybe Parmesh somewhere there. His Daddy is obviously very hurt for being out-done as hving Crankie’s ear or whatever ..by 3 other kai vata.

  12. Tim Says:

Let em all just sit on each other’s credentials.
@ispy – look at Bubba – if you check out the state he’s in now with how he looked at the start of it all, you’ll see a marked difference. Same with Frank. In fact they’re all showing signs of wear and tear. No amount of bleach on the head a muppet called Shaista or henna on the head of a walking piece of mutton fools anyone. They look as bad as they sound everytime they open their mouths to swallow a bit more of each other’s kaka

  13. pimpenel Says:

And john samy wanted his father to be investigated for the two million

  14. Tim Says:

And I’d suggest that unless Socialist International want to become known as Facist International, they’ll ditch any association they have with the Fijian Labour Party. Not that I propose giving any of them advice, they’ve already got a load of idealogues that can’t see past their noses due to the colour brown and the lack of principle – there’ too much green and gold plastic about (in the form of American Express cards paid for y Fijian taxpayers)

  15. LUVfiji Says:

@ SV – the pix on p17 in today’s FT has got to be my pix of the week!. I just cracked up when I saw it. Wouldnt you want to paste it here together with its caption?

So much for Penny Moore’s remarks.. it sure fell on one pair of ‘sleepy’ ears! In yr face ncbbf. And they’ve still found reason to extend their term for another three months.

Com’n Fiji.. lets rise out of this rut!

  16. Save the Sheep Says:

Maybe the NCBBF is developing ‘Stockholm Syndrome’ and merely looking to extend their time together in Parliament?

Agree with comments on Rajen and his apparent dislike of Aiyaz and Samy. Rajen actually tells it as it is for once, but he is still an idiot and that is a statement of fact.

  17. FijiGirl Says:

The Rancid One can bait his enemies all he likes, it doesn’t change the fact that he is a low-life useless bit of demonspawn and the only reason anyone pays him any attention is because of who his father is, he has no achievements or contribution of his own to make.
He is like one of those ‘celebrities’ in the West who are famous for being famous.
The Rancid One is Fiji’s very own answer to a Big Brother contestant – a big Nobody who desperately wants to be a Somebody but just ends up irritating Everybody.
    God bless Fiji

  18. ex Fiji Tourist Says:

Sv, could you please post the photo that LUVfive has mentioned?

I certainly think it would show the military charter team up.

Wasn’t it interesting to read that the crowd ‘of thousands’ who were at the park earlier in the week to hear bananasinpyjamas mumble, were actually public servants who were ordered to close their offices and attend.

    Talk about rent a crowd.

No wonder they all looked bored sh*&less on TV.

  19. Billy Says:

And attendace does not mean support, as stupid Kaiyarze seems to think.
