Fiji not ready for polls: Interim PM
Wednesday, July 16, 2008

Update: 1:27PM Fijis interim Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama has once again hinted that Fiji will not be ready to hold its general elections come next year.

Commodore Bainimarama admitted today that there are a lot of challenges to meet before the country can hold elections.

Speaking at the 10th National Advisory Council in Lami, Commodore Bainimarama said agents like the National Advisory Council (NAC) will continue to function and discharge their duties for the benefit of the communities and organisation.

He is expecting a good exchange of information between the government agencies and the Councillors which can be the basis on which government can have its plans for future developments.

“Government as usual will address national problems such as poverty, squatter settlements, unemployment, expiry of land leases, drug-abuse and several other related social ills in our society,” Commodore Bainimarama said.

“The Interim Government recognises the national advisory councils through the ministry of provincial development and multi-ethnic affairs and will continue to provide the assistance to the Indian and the minority communities.”

He said the interim Government seeks the views of the NAC on such areas and its support in the States effort to take the country to forward towards a genuine democracy and free and fair elections.

The meeting delved with issues affecting the Indian and the minority communities like the Peoples charter, 2009 general elections, the better utilisation of land, scholarship and community development projects.

Frank just doesn’t get it does he ?
    No-one wants you Frank !

  2. Groggymaster Says:

The IG and their supporters are the thickest of the thick. They are unable to call any elections as they know there is not enough support for the IG or their preferred political party. The delays excused every which way is to figure out how to swindle the rest of us of our preferred governing party. The above post is right – Frank doesn’t get it. Its the reason for the 10 boci-guard possie.

  3. newsfiji Says:

WAILEI! Ofcourse he doesn’t want elections – because he’ll head straight for PRISON…NUKULAU SARAGA!

  4. benhur Says:

As a tax paying citizen of Fiji i demand the right to freely choose in a democratic election the person(s) to run and administer the Government of my country.I ask the United Nations,European Union,South Pacific Forum,Australia,New Zealand and the Commonwealth of Nations to please sent in a peace keeping force, to ensure that the IG promised election in March,2009 is kept!

  5. newsfiji Says:

Hey, let’s all refuse to pay any taxes..all of you who have business’s: use delaying tactics to for tax payments to FIRCA…oh and in addition don’t pay any FNPF too…keep the money aside in a separate bank account..if the authorities ask, tell: we’re awaiting the outcome of the court case to determine whether this govt is legal or not…

It’s your right NOT to pay TAX to an illegal wannabee forced to regime..

Here it is folks: the pig spews another of what they’re made of – LIES! This is from Fijilive:

I want Chand back in Govt: PM
    16 JUL 2008

Interim Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama says he wants his Permanent Secretary Parmesh Chand back in Government.

Chand resigned yesterday over differences with Bainimarama on his role and position’s terms of reference.

“He is a professional and would be good for this government,” Bainimarama said.

“Seriously I’m going to miss him. He is a good man. He is loyal but we had differences over the last couple of days and we had thought that he should take leave. So I hope he will stay around in government.”

“I prefer that he stays back but that is up to him.

Bainimarama told the media today that he had a disagreement with Chand.

But what the disagreement was is “none of your business”, Bainimarama said.

He said Chand asked to take leave after they had a disagreement “but I didn’t know that he had resigned”.

He said Chand would be the best person to answer the question why he had decided to resign.

“We had a disagreement and there was some confusion in his terms of reference as Permanent Secretary and then he asked to take leave.

“But I did not know that he had resigned. It’s you people who have been interfering in Mr Chand’s life … let him be.”

He denied the disagreement was over Chand purportedly arranging for the Pacific Forum Ministerial Contact Group to meet other political leaders.

But he agreed that he did not want the group to meet any group opposed to the Interim Government.

“That’s true … they are here to talk to us. The last thing we want is have them confused with anti-government talk so yes I did not want them to meet others because they were the same sources they were getting their information from.”

Bainimarama also denied suggestions that he had been approached previously on three previous occasions to have Chand removed.

  7. Budhau Says:

So do you guys seriously believe that Frank will hold an election, let his opponents contest that election on a level playing field – and if they win, Frank will just walk away.

The strategy here is not give this power away that the military has – the strategy is to have an election in which the backers of the military – folks like Nailatikau, Ganilau and Chaudary can win and legitimize their regime.

So why would they have an election before they are somewhat confident that the timing is right and the rules are in their favour.

So the question is – what are you going to do about this?

Benhur – as tax paying citizens of Fiji – many have had this same experience prior to you – where they could not freely choose the government – I am sure that you were there defending their rights also – or were you too young to do anything back then.

  8. PPC Says:

Please Explain what Bainimagatinanarama is saying here…..

“Seriously I’m going to miss him. He is a good man. He is loyal (talking about Chand)

  9. ex Fiji Tourist Says:

    Talk about double speak!!!!

“”THE Interim Prime Minister has revealed today he didn’t want the Ministerial Contact Group to meet other political leaders.
Bainimarama says the meetings with other stakeholders would confuse the delegation who would have been presented with anti-interim government comments.”””

    Roughly translated, this means;

“I’m shit scared that these foreign fellows will be told the truth by Mr Q & Mr B and they won’t believe all the bullshit about moving forward and corruption.

“”Bainimarama adds the Ministerial delegation has accepted that electoral reforms must be in place before elections are held.””

“They said that elections must be held by March and under the current constitution. They also said that electoral reform is necessary but to be done by the elected govt. Now I can’t say that as it would make me look a complete fool so I will tell yet another lie.””

Silly bananasinpyjamas couldn’t lie straight in bed.

  10. Talei Says:

The only people not ready for elections Frank, is you and your goons because you idiots don’t want to give up power you swore in the beginning of your illegal regime that you bloody fools would not take.

Gosh, you are much more stupid than I thought and your brash and uncivilized manner of speaking is beyond astounding.

Do us all a favor and get lost, Fiji does NOT want you! Your days ARE numbered!

  11. ex Fiji Tourist Says:

    Translations for you

“”Seriously I’m going to miss him.””

“”He is a good man. “”

    “”He is loyal””

  12. Groggymaster Says:

    @Ex Fiji Tourist
“Silly bananasinpyjamas couldn’t lie straight in bed”
Of course not – he;s got Gates, Chodo, Choro, Shamimi, Compol and Leweni all in bed with him. Which way does he turn? Every which way.

    @PPC Alternate translation
”Seriously I’m going to miss him.”
Another deposit in my offshore account – reduces balance in Chodo’s assasination offshore account
”He is a good man. “
Yeah Right. Time for my left – hand man
    ”He is loyal”
Otherwise, interrogation at Delainabua with the merry green rear bangers.

  13. newsfiji Says:

whose that BOCI standing behind Bainiulunana full nodding his head when illegal PM was talking to the media..luveni ulupepa..

  14. Groggymaster Says:

    @newsfiji – Must be budhau.

  15. Budhau Says:

Hi please disregard my previous comment. That was done by the fake Budhau called NP.

I am the real Budhau and I am only good at one thing and that is I suck big cocks at $18 and hour in Redfern

  16. Striker Says:

On the BBC last night the governor of the Chairman Zimbabwe Capital Markets Authority was telling some gruesome stories of the state of the economy in Zimbabwe. Their supermarkets are now 85% empty, all trading in local currency has been suspended, the only acceptable medium of trading is the American dollar which very few of the people could afford, poverty is rampant, unemployment is at all time high. We should not let this happen to Fiji. We have had enough of the suffering. So folks, let’s have elections by March 2009, or else!

  17. Peace Pipe Says:

No sooner the foreign ministers left our shores the pig makes the arrogant slap in the face statement that there will be no election until electoral reforms are in place. Who the fcuk is he to determine things of importance of such magnitude. I think we should resign ourselves that he will not change and that drastic measures by us have to be applied against the pig to kick his sorry useless butt out of office.

  18. Save the Sheep Says:

But in all this election postulating, we forget that one of the provisions of becoming a member of the I.G. was that you could not stand for election.

This may be just another lie though eh?

The reality is that the Ganilau’s Chaudhrey’s etc dont want an election because they want to keep their jobs as long as possible.

I for one wouldn’t mind seeing an election in which none of the IG and past parliamentarians stand.

Do away with political parties and let every elected member be answerable fully to their electorate.

  19. Mark Manning Says:

Civil disobedience is the only answer . Withdrawal of all labour and stay home , if only to embarrass those in the I.G.

  20. Lau Lass Says:

Vinaka SV for the top comment, u have summed it for us all, keep it up !!

  21. benhur Says:

What a pathetic statements by Voreqe for the reason(s) of Chand dismissal. Isn’t that statements just paint a picture to the whole world that Fiji current military leaders are not only idiots but rather have no intention to release leadership of the country to civilian rules? I say, its time for Aussie&New Zealand to bring in a peace keeping forces and pressure the IG to immediately hold its promised democratic election next year? Isn’t it stupid that while the whole world are trying to bounced and leaped into the new millennium, heres a bunch of -NO SCHOOL-military has-been-and failed politicians, who are trying their best to throw us back into the dinosaur era.

  22. Adi Kaila Says:

look it’s simple, they’ve all passed their ‘USE BY’ date and without any qualifications in civilian life, no assets, no savings whatsoever the ig gravy train is the only way – the misapprehension that they could actually lead this Nation with the ahmadiyyas doing the ‘legal’ footwork we’ve always known was a complete disaster from Day 1.

As we’ve witnessed this week – their ridiculous coup is just that – waste of bloody time and resources.

I just want to see them all locked up!

  23. Lau Lass Says:

I just want to see them all shot, that Hairyarse gets on my nerves when he appears on TV, he looks GIRLISH !!!!

  24. Adi Kaila Says:

Lau Lass – he’s the biggest googoo – dau ni cu – dau ni ku.

Liumuri dina okoya. Liu qai muri tiko okoya – I’m not talking about parking a bus.

Hairy dina talega nona arse ni lotu cici i macawa they have to shave during some stage of the moon for cleansing – poo – fter!

  25. FijiGirl Says:

I loved what Graham Leung said today at FLS conference that our Constitution is not, in fact, intact and the repeated decrees, promulgations and illegal appointments by this illegal regime means that the Constitution lies in tatters.

Too right! You can’t cherry pick the Rule of Law.

    God bless Fiji

  26. benhur Says:

What type of weapon can someone use to take out this swine? If you know the best type please let me know ASAP?
