Eight questions the dictator MUST answer!

When staging a coup in December 2006 Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama made a solemn pledge that no military officer would gain financially as a result of the military taking over.As we now know, that promise was a big lie. Over the past 18 months we have seen military personnel installed in high-paying positions across a whole range of our nation’s institutions.

To rub salt into the wound, Bainimarama keeps talking about the need for good governance, but his actions contradict his words. Instead, he continues to ignore and abuse the very principles on which good governance is built.

For a start there cannot be good governance without total transparency and accountability. Yet the least transparent and accountable person in Fiji is the dictator himself.

That is why, having received various pieces of information from bank and military sources and from within the regime, FDN has prepared the following eight questions for Bainimarama. They are serious questions that demand full and honest answers.

Question 1: Where did you get the money to buy the house in Howell Road, Suva, for your daughter and son-in-law?

Question 2: How much did you contribute to the paying off by another of your children of her house in New Zealand?

Question 3: How much more in total monthly salary are you collecting today, compared with your pre-coup salary as commander of the RFMF?

Question 4: What proportion of your monthly income is “on the books” and what proportion has interim finance minister Chodopu$ organized to be “off the books”?

Question 5: Will you declare all your income for income tax purposes?

Question 6. What or who is the source of the large amounts that have been transferred into your Bank of Baroda account at irregular intervals over the past 14 months?

Question 7: Why do you feel it necessary to operate an overseas bank account and is FIRCA aware of that account?

Question 8: Given your pledge that no RFMF officer would benefit from the coup, can you inform us, the people of Fiji, by exactly how much the following officers have benefited by being authorised to take up appointments or go into business while drawing their military salaries: Colonel Apakuki Kurusiga, Pauliasi Naivalu, Filipe Alifereti, Lieutenant-Colonel Serevi Vananalagi, Brigadier loane Naivalurua, Major Neumi Leweni and Colonel Samuela Saumatua?

Come on Bainimarama, this is your big opportunity. For once in your miserable life, tell the truth!

Often, dictators and other political sinners are granted exile, amnesty or other means of escaping their responsibility purely out of expediency.
Often they’re not. Frank must be a gambler. Nothing is set in stone. Imelda Marcos used to have a shoe fetish.
Cambodians thought they’d never see justice.
Mugabe is shitting himself that there might be a visit to the Hague sometime in the future.
Frank – how long is you life gonna be? What sort of legacy are you hoping to leave your kids?
Since the junta is illegal in law, it wouldn’t be unreasonable for a government that succeeds you (however far in the future) to seize whatever assets you’ve benefited from to repay illegal spending – not that they’d ever completely compensate.
Come to think of it, FDN in one of their questions has just identified a “smart sanction” that could be applied. And here you are with your tits in a tangle over how unjust you think OZ and NZ are being to you. But then I guess you jus dun unna Stan.

  2. tim Says:

One thing I dow know, and that is if and when there is a move on Frank, he’ll squeel like the pathetic little piglet he is. The members of this circus will all be blaming each other as they’ve already begun to do.
Never mind, we’ve got the expertise of exceptional people such as Gates and Shameen to adjudicate. What a fcuk up!

  3. FijiGirl Says:

The madman theory of how power is best exercised is the notion that a reputation for unpredictability and excessive use of force maximises the effect of threats.

Since the IR’s murder of civilians in the early days after the coup, they have employed the madman theory to varying degrees, but with the desired effect that the people are not openly protesting.

The Chinese call this ‘killing the chicken to frighten the monkey”.

Come on, people – let’s openly protest!

    God bless Fiji

  4. Mark Manning Says:

And Hitler was an honest man !

  5. Tailevu South Says:

What we are seeing today from Bainivuaka is the very same thing has been accusing the SDL Govt for. Now we watching all his corrupt deals that put property or cash into his pockets by embezzling public assets.

Mai yaso… mai vale e MINO!!!!

  6. Budhau Says:

Hey FDN – I will make your life easier – so here are the answers.

Question 1: Where did you get the money to buy the house in Howell Road, Suva, for your daughter and son-in-law?

None of your fricken business, the house belongs to Bainimarama’s daughter and son-in-law, they are gainfully employed, and they have the right to buy a house and they do not explain this to anyone.

Question 2: How much did you contribute to the paying off by another of your children of her house in New Zealand?

See answer to question 1 above.

Question 3: How much more in total monthly salary are you collecting today, compared with your pre-coup salary as commander of the RFMF?

Did someone suggest that Bainimarama was getting paid over and above what he was supposed to be making. (BTW, FDN, when did you stop beating your wife? – Oh you never did.)

Question 4: What proportion of your monthly income is “on the books” and what proportion has interim finance minister Chodopu$ organized to be “off the books”?

These are exactly the kind of question that lead others to question the credibility of these pro-democracy blogsites run by folks like you.

Question 5: Will you declare all your income for income tax purposes?

Why, do you have any reason to believe that Bainimaram is planning not to declare his income.

Question 6. What or who is the source of the large amounts that have been transferred into your Bank of Baroda account at irregular intervals over the past 14 months?

Would you like to let us know where did you get that information from and I am sure that if you had something concrete – it would be posted all over this blogsite and in the local media.

Question 7: Why do you feel it necessary to operate an overseas bank account and is FIRCA aware of that account?

If you are aware of these bank accounts and FIRCA is not, why don’t you pull a Victor Lal and work with those two Fiji newspapers – I am sure the media would really be interested in this. (or is this type of libelous material only for the underground media.

Did FB promise that during the reign of the IG – no military officer would be promoted, transferred or otherwise get a pay raise? BTW did any of these officer get stuff like a FDB low interest loan to buy shares in FHL.

BTW – I was surprised that there were no questions about FB mental illness, or his affairs with some Indian lady supporting his coup or his homosexual relationship with the pretty boy, and the like – may be we should ask him that also – giving him a fair chance to clear the air once and for all.

Fiji Democracy Now – there is lot of ammunition out there to fight this regime legitimately. Why do you people get down to this level of trash. If you have any evidence of what you implied in your “questions” – take it to the media –like our boy Victor Lal did.

BUDHAU..LAUSAMU..SUPU MADA SA SIVIA NOMU VAKAMACALA

  8. LUVfiji Says:

Well.. well.. do we have ‘Tailevu South’ on board?

    MOST CERTAINLY NOT!

Can this blogger please CHANGE yr name or add something like ‘lad’ ‘lass’ ‘fan’ whatever else, BUT Tailevu South on its own? You sound as if you are speaking for our part of the Province and you clearly DONT. I am from Tailevu South and I strongly object to u using that as a blogname. Be more creative, my friend, and leave our dear Province alone.

Yalovinaka, me kakua ni mai yara taki ena buturara ‘qo na yaca ni nodatou Yasana. Vinaka.

  9. Groggymaster Says:

The IG regime is beginning to corrupt absolutely as it morphs into a dictatorship. It is showing it’s true colors of being unaccountable to anyone but themselves. At least the SDL were subject to vigourous press scrutiny, which was fully utlized by Bainivuaka, Chodo, etc in making their unsubsatantiated allegations pre 2006.
Once in power they have moved to quickly and inelegantly to silence dissent. The fact that dissent is now moving underground echoes the experience of democracy emerging in eastern europe. Surely that should worry us all. However as an optomist, I am confident we will emerge from this nightmare sooner, rather than later.
The sole question the IG needs to ask itself is – how do they prefer to exit – JAIL or SIX FEET UNDER ????

  10. Peace Pipe Says:

All these things he couldn’t do or afford in pre coup days. So I guess it was one of his objectives and the fulfilment of his dreams to usurp the govt in a raw naked power grab to achieve all his wildest dreams. In order to fulfil his plans he has make his support team happy as well so in with cushy jobs for these bloke who help out in achieving his devious cause. Without the pig doing this they just would abandon him like a bad smell but since they get to have a share of the cake they are all in with him. So he had to lie and deceive the civilians about the “no military will benefit” crap. On hindsight it was a foot in the mouth statement. This is also why he is trying to dodge the election deadline by throwing spanner in the work with excuses such as electoral reforms, charter completion and even the mythical claim of corruption which has made no headway whatsoever so that he could hang on to power much longer. But all these are to the detriment of the public at large as the economy plummets and everyone gets poorer especially the working class.

  11. Mark Manning Says:

13 pieces of silver can buy a lot of things in Fiji these days .
When the coup is over and prices of things go back up , Frank and his buddies will make even more money !
Unless the new Government confiscates everything they own including things accumulated from the proceeds of crime .
If nothing else , Frank could sell his story to the movie makers he was contemplating setting up in Fiji , but then , the proceeds from that would have to be handed in too !
So that leaves nowhere for Frank, Chaudhry and their supporters to go .

  12. field marshal bananasinpyjamas Says:

    Hey bud, you idiot!

Ya sposed to be on that blog to say good things about me, you idiot.

Here ya are saying silly things to try change subject.

Boy ya gonna have extra guard duty if you can’t type some sense.

  13. Jese Waqalekaleka Says:

    @ Budhau,

    you are a hypocrite.

You accuse FDN for ‘going down to the level of trash’, yet you were surprised or more correctly disappointed, that FDN did not question Vore about his ‘mental illness’, ‘affair with an Indian lady supporter’ or his ‘homosexual relationship with pretty boy’ implying these questions were much more relevant and should have been asked?

I say you are a hypocrite, because seeing the way you operate, if FDN or anyone for that matter asked these very same questions, you would have taken the high moral ground, which you usually do and come back with the same usual response, they were ‘going down to the level of trash.’

It takes one to know one Budhau, so you can’t have it both ways or as they say in Fijian ‘Budhau kua ni dau taura-solia.’

Therefore Budhau, you are a hypocrite.

  14. Koya na Man Says:

Hey you guys see the bug picture, the person who shouts the loudest is simply showing a motive of self defence, compared to the one who shuts his mouth and withstood all temptation to fight back whilst being tried.

Well Bhai never seemed to stop shouting about the corruption,no military gain stance and all the rubbish before 5/12/06 and now nearly two years down the line we still have no convictions in court. Not forgetting the time & money wasted by the commisions of enquiry set up all over the place proving to be an exercise in futility.

Now he is shooting he’s shooting his own foot, look at the top civil service positions,Fijian institution, and last and not the least our economy. The beautiful rosie picture initially paineted by Bhainimarama is slowly fading away, as LQ said(and I quote) it has no substance, just hear say(crap, intellegence fashion).

But let’s dig down deeper, what has he got to benefit from this:
May be the avoiding of the investigations the the Police
May be to protect military personnel from prison terms
May be to avoid the Auditor Generals investigations
    May be some Financial Gain
May be to quench his thirst for power

A lot of may be(s) what say guys…………
LQ says (and I quote again) Sa qai matata tiko mai na mata ni meke qo..(Remember the Prime Minister is still keeping Quite, because he ain’t got nothing to hide).

    Food for thought..

  17. sakua Says:

Hey, there’s too many allegations, accusations … where is the EVIDENCE!

Sa kua mada na character assasination? Ra sega ni tamata ravarava o rau na vugoi interim PM – they are capable and able to support their families and buy their own properties. They don’t need the i-PM!

Show us the evidence … where is it?

  18. Budhau Says:

JW – you idiot – what is this with your “Budhau is a hypocrite” line.

What I pointed out was that FDN had some sillyass questions.
How about if without any evidence I start asking you questions like, “so you longer gay or did your wife break up with her young boyfriend, how come you never paid back that ten dollars you borrowed from me last month, so you no longer abuse your children anymore or how was stay in jail.

That is being artfully indirect with my derogatory suggestions – right?

Someone like the FDN – who supposedly runs his own blogsite should know better then pushing that kinda crap in here.

As sakua said – “show us the evidence” – BTW, if FDN had any evidence he with be running up to the local media – or may be sending it over to the Lal dude.

  19. bodyguard Says:

if everythinks the military officiers who gained a prmonient position in power r having a good time…..think again.

    what I know for fact is;
    – they living from pay to pay.
    – family problems on rise.
    – public approaching them daily for help [sa qai lako i vei na vosa yaco tiko vei ira na sotia macawa qo].
    – other social problems and headaches is showing its signs.

I hope they live amiserable life and suffer a painful death.

Bainimarama and his soldiers including those useless interim cabinet ministers are full of shit. they will pay for the misery they caused everyone.

    they will pay ….

  20. kaiveicoco Says:

    Budhau,
just a comment on your answer to question no 8.If you speak Fijian you will understand that FB himself in the interview with Sakiusa Bolaira in the ” viti ni kua ” programme on Fiji one on sunday 6th december he said in Fijian ” ena sega ni dua na turaga ni valu wili kina o au ena taura e dua na i tutu ni veiliutaki ” thats what he told Fiji that day.Just FYI

  21. kaiveicoco Says:

    Luv Fiji and Tailevu South.
Me da dredre madaga can I recommend the name Tailevuniwasi !!

  22. Wailei Says:

Actually Bud, the questions are quite relevant.. Any dumbass questions are all relevant if posed to VB. He has no credibility as a soldier and a wannabe politician. He has caused Economic and social problems in Fiji, and has created a trend in nepotism. Funny thing is; he thinks that he is doing right by Fiji but does not realise that Fiji is sinking deeper into the Pacific Ocean with no hope of Economically surviving for a number of years.

The Indian Diaspora as many have called it is now irrelevant because it appears that it would be called “Fijian Citizens Diaspora” Last week one whole Fijian family and the kids with their own respective families just migrated for Australia and everyone is saying: “Fiji is only good for Holidays”

All questions – are all relevant!
