Why Swani Maharaj?

I refer to Swani Maharaj calling on Fijians to do away with traditional obligations. Such calling can either only come from someone ignorant of Fijian tradition and culture or someone bent on the destruction of Fijian identity. I believe the latter applies as this same person also calls for everyone to be called Fijians when that ethnic identifier already legally refers to a particular group as specified in the Fijian Affairs Act (Cap 120(2)). Why he didn’t suggest “Fiji Islander” given that Fiji is now officially the Republic of Fiji Islands points to a devious motive on his part.

As for Father Arms suggestion to abolish the communal seats, it is best that this suggestion is taken back to the Fijian people, via their Bose Vanua and Provincial Councils for their input. This is so as those communal seats are currently the property of the Fijian people via a political agreement arising out of the Reeves Report.

If in the event that Father Arms suggestions are forced through, then non participation in elections would be as simple as not going to the shop thus rendering an election null and void given that at least 50% of the population will choose not to go to the shop.
In conclusion, I’d like to invite both Father Arms and Swani Maharaj to personally appear before our Bose Vanua and Provincial Councils rather than making pronouncements in the media on matters which affect the Fijian people. I am sure that Naitasiri and Namosi will also accomodate them in their own special way.

Vinaka vakalevu Ratu. Well said indeed!

Good post, but I don’t agree with the bit about not participating in the elections. This would fit neatly into the snake’s plans and pave his way to an easy victory.

There only hope is that the numerous Fijian parties in the past will split the votes again and that the FLP support remains intact.

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. The electoral changes they suggest are just as illegal as everything we are going through.

While we’re talking about this kulina,Francis Narayan has announced the resignation of the lady CEO of FTIB.Though he would not say the reason for her resignation,he said the vacancy was being advertised.

O cei beka vei iratou na lawalawa butabutako qo e sa na taura na i tutu qo??

Who is this shit Swami Magaitinana. Why don’t you stick to what concerns you and your kawa-you kawa ca!

The cheek of this guy trying to make comments on Fijian traditional obligations. Bloody arsehole, son of a girmitiya bajaru from India!

  5. LUVfiji Says:

Maybe the axed iIMinister Waradi will take over the lady CEO at FTIB. Tit for tat ? It would be interesting to know what really happened there. Sa levu dina na veiliumuritaki. No one is spared. Unless, of course, she is heading for a top diplomatic posting with Malaysia and Washington yet to be filled.

It’s pay back for the Fiji Muslim Leagues decision to remain above politics and not participate in the NCBBF. Mrs Khan is the wife of the Fiji Muslim League President.

  7. Budhau Says:

Good Job Groggymaster – is that how she got the job in the first place – the Muslim League support SDL, SDL gives them one Senate seat and some other post.

I guess what goes around, comes around.

BTW – did you notice that the Muslims were behind the SDL Indian wing in the last election – how many of them actually voted for the SDL – you will get that from the Indian communal seat vote count – what is the Muslim population, and how many voted SDL.

  8. LUVfiji Says:

    @Groggymaster.. payback indeed.

Remember that “diplomatic embarrassment” in Beijing she was supposed to have complained about, which led to Waradi’s fall from the iICabinet? Has it come back to haunt her? I wonder..

  9. Puf-Military Says:

This Swami Salami’s just another fly by nighter looking for attention. Fijians practising their own traditions and customs in Their Own land is wonderful and noble thing.

Perhaps he can persuade his fellow heathens to stop worshipping idols of monkeys, snakes, elephants and their other contemptible practices.

  10. Mossad Says:

Swine Who????……folks, take a bow, its in situations like this that we get to realise the true character of some people
