Soqsoqo Vakamarama slams SDL Party

The Soqosoqo Vakamarama has today slammed the claim by the SDL party that the policies introduced by the interim administration have resulted in the steep increase in poverty.

Speaking to Fijivillage, Adi Finau Tabakaucoro said the cause of negative growth is dependent on previous year’s economic activity.

This is after the SDL General Assembly put together 16 resolutions one of which said that the level of poverty in Fiji since December 6th, 2006 has increased dramatically as confirmed by the interim Finance Minister in his 2008 Budget Address and reminds the interim government that its policies so far and method of operation in fact promotes poverty by driving away investors and tourists.

S V says, its amazing how this woman has done a great about turn. This was the same old hag that applied unsuccessfully for the SDL ticket for the Tailevu South Fijian Communal Seat in the last election.

This is another opportunist taking advantage of her position as head of the Soqosoqo Vakamarama  to achieve her own selfish needs. The Soqosoqo Vakamarama’s executive should immidiately do something about sacking this woman for bringing the Organisation into disrepute. It is not a political body!

  6. Budhau Says:

SV – you could have easily made your point without calling that woman an old hag – such name calling only lowers your credibility – but than again, who cares – you are only preaching to the choir.

BTW – since you claim that this women’s organization is not a political body – may be you should rethink your attitude towards the GCC – that should also be a apolitical body looking after the interest of the Fijian people – and with its expanded constitutional role – looking after the interest of all Fiji citizens.

  7. lawenforcer Says:

  10. woilei Says:

Concentration on my studies has been well and truly broken this morning. I was outraged to see Finau commenting on behalf of the Soqosoqo Vakamarama.

As a member of this group, I want to know under whose mandate she chose to make this comment. As members we certainly did not give her our permission, not individually NOR as a group.

She is the worst opportunist I have ever known. If for a $100 fee she is happy to sell her soul, then she is welcome to do so but the organisation remains apolitical.

  11. IslandBoy Says:

@Woilei – It is really up to you and all of the Fijian ladies who are members of that well respected organisation to write to your President and patron and organose all the brancjhes from the provinces to get rid of her.

A possible solution is to get the Provinces that have rejected the NCBBF, which is an overwhelming majority, and their respective, mata mai nai Soqosoqo Vakamarama to oust her.

At this point she cannot possibly be speaking on behalf of Fijian women!

  12. woilei Says:

Island Boy – bugger the study, … tubu na dra – am organising a meeting of our members right now.

  13. Wailei Says:

Isnt she supposed to consult her members first before speaking in Public?

  14. Dauvavana Says:

  24. Dauvavana Says:

  25. Tim Says:

@ Budhau – cum election day is right. There’d be cum from asshole to breakfast. Frank would be creaming himself and Chodo would be having a climax not since felt since the conception of the young Rajen. And look where that got him.
Still, all facists seem to have a common trait – feelings of inadequacy. Even Shaista and Yippe can’t quite make it in the real world. You should check out Discombobulatedbubu and ask yourself how many on the checklist fit you and your ilk

  27. Corruption Fighter Says:

The Economy: Adi Finau versus the hard facts.

Adi Finau has certainly made a fool of herself here. If she can’t understand the facts in front of her nose, she should check out the World Bank East Asia Update, April 2008, on the World Bank site. It speaks for itself.

“Fiji’s real GDP contracted by an estimated 4 percent in 2007, largely reflecting the effect of recent political events on the tourism and construction sectors. Tourism earnings fell by an estimated 20 percent while construction activity declined by one third in the first 9
months of the year. Sugar production declined by 23 percent due to unfavorable weather conditions and supply chain inefficiencies. Copra production declined by 9 percent. Garment export earnings have remained subdued since the expiry of the US preferential
    agreement in 2005.

A modest recovery of approximately 2 percent real GDP growth is forecast for 2008 linked to expected growth in tourism. However. economic recovery remains vulnerable to political instability, natural
disasters (cyclones, floods), high global oil prices, and uncertain relations with key development partners. Reforms in macroeconomic policy, public sector management, land, and the sugar sector are
much needed but difficult to implement under present circumstances.”

This says it all. The economyis in dire straits and the prospects of improvement are hampered by the uncertainty created by an illegal and incompetent regime.

  28. Budhau Says:

Thanks Tim. Please retain your male essence for that day.

  29. george of sydney Says:

My advice to Finau, If you dont know anything about the way government finance and economy works, just shut for whatever you say could only reflect yourself and your dumbass stupidity.
When their is a coup, we will have to expect a drop in our economy. This could result in devaluation which usually raises our finance in the foreign reserve. The devaluation is always a short term solution especially when our exports are down due to the trade ban from our consistent and secured trade partners such as Australia, NZ and USA.
Finau for your information, there was no devaluation during this coup because our economy was at its best and the people were enjoying their life in Fiji. Everything was booming.
You and your cronies mess up everything. I am sorry to tell you that I am from the Tui Kaba clan and your liu muri and incosistent life is shameful and stink.
Remember SDL was elected by the people, majority of which were Fijians. The Fijians supported them because they have a lot of educated and humble Fijians who have held management and leadership position in the country before they became politician.
Now dont blame the previous government but now we are waiting for what you, Bai, chodo and the rest of your juntas can deliver. If u cant deliver than shut up.

Efforts on for non-racist regime in Fiji: Ex-premier
    Sunit Dhawan
    Tribune News Service

    Rohtak, April 27
Efforts are being made to pave the way for the formation of a non-racist regime in Fiji. A 44-member national council, comprising 11 members of the interim government of Fiji and 33 representatives of the civil society (including social, religious and other sections), is in the process of preparing a charter relating to the issues of governance and electoral system for the purpose.

This was stated by former Fiji premier Mahendra Chaudhary, who is finance minister in the present interim government there, while talking to a group of mediapersons here today. Chaudhary was in the town on a personal visit.

He said the draft charter would be ready by this August and followed by a public debate on it in October. A referendum on it would be held in November or December. “The elections as per the new charter will be held tentatively in March 2009, for the installation of a non-racist regime in Fiji,” he added.

Regarding the purpose of his visit, Chaudhary explained that they were here to hold talks with the Indian government on certain issues related to the development of Fiji.

Chaudhary is heading a three-member delegation of the interim government of Fiji, which is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and finance minister P. Chidambaram on Wednesday.

Chaudhary, whose ancestors migrated to Fiji from Bahu Jamalpur village in Rohtak district nearly a century ago, is among the four ministers of Indian origin in the Fiji regime.

  41. Tracker Says:

@Bodyguard – By virtue of her position, the First Lady is always the Head of the Soqosoqo Vakamarama!!

  42. woilei Says:

Island Boy – we have decided against writing to the Head of the Soqosoqo Vakamarama as this would prob have the same fate as everything else that goes up to the white house on the knoll . But there is a letter going from a few of us concerned ladies to Finau on this issue.

  43. IslandBoy Says:

@woilei – good one – you go gals. What about writing in the print dailies, like the lady Veikoso from Turkey, Ulamila from CI etc. Its good to let all of Fiji know genuine Fijian ladies do not agree with Fifi’s rubbish.

Zero morals that Fifi woman, however still hoping she loses her Soqosoqo Vakamarama position like her menage a trois partners, Nawalowalo and Ralogaivau.
