$2 looses chairmanship of Kadavu Provincial Council

Jo Nawalowalo has been ousted from the chairmanship position of Kadavu Province.

“Tu na da” as they say in my village!

I wonder what will now happen to his claims that Kadavu supports the changes in the GCC regulations and support the Charter.

  1. tailevu Says:

Unlike Tailevu, levu ga na vere vakabau. Let us do hope that Kadavu will reject both the GCC review and the Charter.

  2. Striker Says:

Now we know, what lies, what propaganda but for what? Are 30 pieces of silver worth one’s betrayal of the trust of his community?

  3. Puf-Military Says:

Great news. Let’s hope that other provinces will eject and evict their own treacherous vermin. The whole lot of them who have contaminated the vanua.

All of these provinces need a fresh start like Kadavu have commenced with

  4. Peace Pipe Says:

Another one bites the dust. Justice will always prevail and it was coming his way the bloody opportunist. What will happen now. Looks like Kadavu will object to the GCC changes and NCBBF proposals. Our prayers are being answered.

  5. Tebara Says:

  6. Frida Says:

The common people of Kadavu had HOPE, that its leaders will look at the broader picture. In Romans 5: 3-5; “suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts.

    Thanks Frida!

I have SUFFERED and PERSEVERED and certainly HOPE that the people of Fiji elect me when we have elections so that I can prove to you and the world what a truly great leader I AM.

I have GREAT plans for Fiji –

    Vote Mahendra Pal Chaudhry!

MPC – if that is your real name, come election time – it is not worth anything. So you better go look somewhere else.

    Guess what???

the latest Out goes Tui Macuata as Chaiman of Macuata and in comes Isireli Leweniqila

  17. LUVfiji Says:

@Dauvavana. While y’re applauding the new chair of the Kad Provincial Council, could you give us a background on the man. Lakolako de vakataki JN; supporter of the regime ??

Great news on Macuata. Is politics at play here ?

  18. Dauvavana Says:

    @ LuvFiji

Most of the time Kadavu politics, always top positions to Tikina Tavuki. Now people are voted on merit at least.

Alekiseda Naisori would have also made a good chairman. He part owns Western Union in Fiji and runs a succesful farm in Baulevu, Naitasiri.

Ratu Varani is a retired senior civil servants at the Dept of Mineral Resources and has a large house at LBE and drives a 4 x 4 and has been retired for almost 20 years living off his pension. Not a no money like $2. He was also a former Board member of NLTB and holds the chiefly title of Takalai Nakasaleka.

$2 Jo no title, no job. Now compare that with the other two candidates!!! E ra sa sega soti ni Tamata Lialia se lecaika na Turaga ni Yasana Vakaturaga o Kadavu.

Vaka talega kina o ratou na wekaqu mai Macuata.

On your question abou politics at play. Could be. Sireli in Macuata and Ratu Varani are both members of the SDL Party. They both come from Big Tikinas too.

A timely reminder to these illegal thieves in government about who the grassroot Fijians support out there in the electorate!!

  19. Jean d’Ark Says:

Just goes to show that being a spokesman involves more than just trying to think up arbitrary answers to every question you are asked – rather it involves being intelligent enough to know what is the best answer to those questions (or when you’re better off just shutting up!).

It also shows that the function of a leader is not to spend extravagant amounts of time and effort trying to manipulate your subjects into some pre-determined position. Rather, it is the art of spending extravagant amounts of time and effort serving them AND FINDING OUT WHAT THEY WANT!

Nawalowalo’s rubbish assurances about Kadavu’s support of him in recent times just goes to show how much he really was in touch with them.

PS. Fran B – I always thought Leweni was your bitch! You two-timing?

  20. LUVfiji Says:

    Vinaka @Dauvavana.

I was merely interested in their political affiliation and how it would have an impact on their role as chair of their respective provincial councils. While I do not doubt the integrity of the chiefs of Kadavu; I just thought they would have gone for young blood. Is this guy u mentioned Navi Naisoro’s brother?

Great to see then, that there is unity in these provinces unlike the one we know. Well.. I guess it is goodbye Joe!

  21. kaiveicoco Says:

    moce Jo!!

  22. Mark Manning Says:

    Frank !
That’s the most sensible thing you’ve said in 15 months !

  23. Jese Waqalekaleka Says:

@ Tailevu, don’t lose heart about your Province’s stance and their decision to send its 3 delegates to the newly constituted GCC.

It shows the maturity of Tailevu. By sending their original 3 representatives who were delegates to the previous lawful GCC, Tailevu cannot be accused for not sending its delegates to the newly constituted illegal GCC, despite their rejecting the People’s Charter.

This way, the 3 delegates are disqualified under the new Regulations because neither are installed chiefs, but Bainimarama himself will have to disqualify these 3 Tailevu Chiefs who are higher chiefs than he.

When he does this, he can no longer accuse the Tailevu Chiefs for not sending their delegation, but would be accused for not accepting the delegates of the Tailevu Bose Vanua.

Nawalowalo is stupid and shows no shame. He is a man with no morals and Kadavu is much better without him because he was a disappointment to many Fijians.

I think all Provinces have acted appropriately and Tailevu in my view has shown great maturity, but what else was to be expected?

  24. Mark Manning Says:

I see that there is a soldier standing behind the President in the photo today from the Times . Does that indicate that the Police are unable to protect him or that the Military are running the country ?

  25. Dauvavana Says:

Vinaka Jese its good to see that you understand teh chiefs deleberation and consensus achieved during the bose vanua at Bau.

It reminds me of what Ratu Sukuna told the chiefs of Tailevu duringa Bose Ni Yasana

“Na ka e raica o Tailevu edai e na qai raici o Viti ni mataka”

And another word of wisdom from this great Bauan Chief “Meda vakusakusa vakamalua”.

    Sa dri yani.

  26. Jese Waqalekaleka Says:

@ MM, the solider is the President’s ADC.

This is normal protocol, even in Australia and NZ because the President or GG is the Head of the Military of Defence Forces.

  27. Mark Manning Says:

okay , thanks jese , that makes sense . Not sure what ADC is though ?

  28. Linus Says:

ADC = Aide de Comp. or Personal assistant/private secretary.

  29. Mark Manning Says:

  30. Frida Says:

Vinaka dauvavana @3:51. I believe the election at the Jiupili is really a good indicator of your assessment of what the grassroots Fijians want and I hope the outcomes of different provincial meetings such as Kadavu and Macuata will prove to some out there that change is possible if it is what we want. It should not be imposed on us.

  31. Mareko Vuli Says:

I take my hat off to Ratu Jo Nawalowalo, he is a man of dignity and truth and always believe in the possiblity in moving the country forward. He is such a postive man of vision and a great leader who would be a great president of the country as a whole. I don’t understand all the fuss about him when he was just doing his job. Too many liumuri in the country thats why you need His Excellency The Prime Minister and Honorable Commander Frank Bainimarama to keep people inline on there toes. If it was’nt for the Commander, Fiji could have gone down the drain.. You people should pull yourself together and try put something positive in the country instead of bitching around behind the hidden curtains of blogs…”do something for your country instead of your country doing something for you”

  32. Jese Waqalekaleka Says:

    @ Mareko,

It is blogs like this that is doing something positive for Fiji.

What proof do you have that the Qarase Government would have taken Fiji down the drain, had it not been for Bainimarama’s coup?

Is Fiji better now or before the coup?

Are Fijians more free to speak their minds in Fiji now or before the coup?

Were Fijians mistreated badly by the Military now or before the coup?

Are the Indians more boldly speaking about deregistering of native lands in Fiji now or before the coup?

    Get the drift???

    Sa dina ga ko Sudaiya:

‘Mareko, ko vuli ga, ko ta sukulu’

  33. Ex Isle Says:

Your statement ‘hidden curtains of blogs’ says it! Why do we do this? because we do not have freedom of speech or the media and could be victimised or physically abused if our names became known. Hooray for ‘keeping people in line and on their toes’. Real progress for our lovely country!

  34. TikoLako Says:

Good riddance to bad rubbish….Nawalowalo deserves to be dumped…blurry fool.

  35. Mareko Vuli Says:

The reason why i fully support this government is the honesty and truth that is bringing in the country and removing the old fashion mindset of hate within the fijian community. This is why the charter needs to be implemented and accepted as the only way forward. It is sad that the chiefs are blocking its people from being free and seeing a true and transparent Fiji for all. The indians have been fiji for a long time and they also need a fair go in everything. We need to get rid of this veiqati mentality and true embrace a new fiji for all people to live in harmony and peace.. Look any goverment will make mistakes and at least this goverment is making a progress to break through that wall and bring a oneness for all people in Fiji..

Therefor my point of view in the country is valid as i always mention on the fijitimes the importances of standing with truth even when it hurts but good results is brought forth..during this hard times. Once you all break out of your shells then you will understand the importances of the goverment of the day!!! Time for all to wake up and unite in peace n harmony.

  36. Mark Manning Says:

It is not the “veiqati” mentality thats the issue here you DUMB DODO!! It is the FACT that a nutjob Fijian DESPOT is allowing himself to be puppeteered by a SELFISH, CONNIVING indo Fijian into selling his soul to the devil for a few pieces of silver.

Therefore, you can take your point and shove it where the sun don’t shine because it’s irrelevant.

  38. aubatinuku-N Says:

    lol @ Mark

  39. Wailei! Says:

Oh Perrleease talking about blind faith. If I wanted a communist country than I’d vote for Bainimarama and Chodo. In which they do the talking and we dont have a say in anything. Yeah sure, any government can make mistakes, thats why they get voted out and we can elect another government. The only difference is “this government” was not elected by the people. What “oneness” are you talking about? For everyone to be Robots? No emotions, no difference of opinions, one religion, oneness what? You need to have diversity, if there isn’t any diversity than the world will be freaking boring! Geeperrzzz! What honesty and truth? There should be respect and trust in which this IG has bulldozed and has raped Democracy! If you had disagreed with the SDL, you could have voted for someone else! You don’t need a gun. So your validity, is saying that if you dont agree with any governments policy than the use of a gun is the best way?

The Charter could have been submitted in parliament if we had one (thanks to you lot), there a channels to go through etc., If they wanted to put it in a constitution than they should get the people to have a say. After all it is the “people’s” Constitution, let the people decide what they want. Not bulldoze your agenda and shoving it down the people’s throats and threatening that whether we like it or not ; its going to go through.
Plus if you want to Validate the Charter than you need to abolish the 1997 constitution because at the moment its just another toilet paper.

“People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people.”

  40. TikoLako Says:

MV, don’t know which planet you’re living on mate but you seriously need to bring yourself back to reality. Honesty and Truth!!? These thugs don’t even know the meaning of those words!! And what hate are you talking about? Hate is exactly what Vore and self serving people like Nawalo2, Epeli’s etc are bringing into the fijian community by their actions. I don’t think I’ve quite seen such seething hatred of these fools in all my years of living here in Fiji. Even the Indians can feel it and they’re leaving by the droves….you just have to go down to Aus and US embassy’s to see how many. Most of the time you go to hospital they’re all lining up for their x-rays for their application to tiko…lako!! These incompetent fools have brought nothing but pain, both socially and economically to this country and the rejections you’re seeing by provincial councils are a direct result of that. They all need to just give up and go home or better still go to jail because they have ruined this country.

  41. aubatinuku-N Says:

I think she is bored trying to get her letters back to the fijitimes which they dont print much this days n now she writes on this blog cause anyone can read it.. she must be hungry for a huge debate..

  45. Dauvavana Says:

Mareko Vuli is a nuthead that lives in Sydney but has never ever lifted a finger to help his community there. He must have smoked too many drugs at Marist as a student to make him off the planet all the time with hs assessment.

He should just comment on the thriving democracy in australia that can make him speak his mind and never worry about his house being burnt down in the middle of the night like we do in Fiji if we speak against the illegal junta.

He writes a letter to the editor almost everyday in the Fiji Times so full of himself and his warped ideas that are not worth debating.

Reminds me of the adage “Empty drums make the most…….

  46. aubatinuku-N Says:

So Mareko Vuli is her real name? Yala kina!

  59. Jese Waqalekaleka Says:

@ MV what ‘honesty’ are you on about?

Allow me to remind you of the follow examples, which are not exclusive by any means.

    Bainimarama’s claim after coup:

No person will be selected into the Interim Cabinet, all will have to apply for these positions, so there is no nepotism.

All Interim Ministers were selected despite Leweni’s claim that they received over 300 applicant’s.

    Bainimarama’s claim after coup:

No Military Officer will benefit from the coup.

Bainimarama himself becomes PM, Teleni (Commissioner of Police), Kurusiga (Investigation Unit Leader), Naivalurua (Commissioner of Prisons), Naupoto (Director of Immigration), Leweni (1st Secretary in China), Driti (Nominated Ambassador to Malaysia), Langdon (Deputy Director of FICAC), and many others.

    Bainimarama’s claim after coup:

We will rid Fiji of corruption and nepotism.

Bainimarama and his cronies continue with corruptive practices. Chaudary with tax evasion and then a kangaroo tribunal to clear him. FLP stalwarts named to various Boards around Fiji. Khaiyum’s younger brother given CEP position of FBCL, despite not having the requisite qualifications and much much more.

    Bainimarama’s claim after coup:

The reason for the coup was because of Qarase’s corruption.

After 18 months Qarase had been charged only on 1 offence, which looks flimsy at the very most and will be thrown out, but nothing else!

These are only a few instances where Bainimarama and his cronies have reverted and committed the very offence, they accuse Qarase of.

As I have stated before, if Qarase ‘did the crime, then he should do the time’, but please don’t waste our time with your gibberish and as I have said to Nativegal and Budhau, I now say to you ‘if you can’t walk the walk, then don’t talk the talk.’

Now it is interesting that Mareko Vuli has surfaced on this blog. Is this the same Mareko Vuli who writes in FT Letters to the Editor in full support of Vore and always deriding LQ and SDL from Melbourne, Australia?

It is hilarious that he thinks this illegal government shows honesty and truth and if he is writing all the way from Australia? Whew…supporters of this regime are usually the kisi lusi and yaloca variety.

  76. LUVfiji Says:

@Mareko Vuli. You are so twisted in your thoughts. We HAD a government of the day before the coup. Do you know what a coup is? You are just too stupid for words. 81. Wailei! Says:

The Tui Macuata is an opportunist pig just like his ancestor who claimed that he was a Tui Macuata. The real Tui Macuata during the signing of the Deed of Cession had sent his messanger (Current Tui Macuata’s Great great great son) to sign on his behalf. When the messanger came back he bought with him some government official and told the real Tui Macuata that he was not the Tui and that he was.

Now the Tui Macuata is doing the same. He is sucking up to the IG so that he can be nominated for VP or President. Was it last year or the year before that he was pushing to be a VP. Well, how low can you get?

    Macuata Has not agreed yet!

(later – on Wednesday) However another newspaper item reports that Macuata Province does not agree to the Charter, which is a separate issue to that of the new-look Council of Chiefs. From Fiji radio I think.

    Charter not accepted says Macuata
    Wednesday, May 21, 2008
Macuata has not accepted the proposed People’s Charter says the province’s new council chairman Isireli Leweniqila. Chiefs attending today’s Macuata Provincial Council meeting have appointed a committee to hold further consultations with villagers in the province. The committee will compile a report on the results of the consultation. The report will be presented before a special sitting of the Macuata Provincial Council.

“We have decided to form a committee and the committee to asses the position of the province, how it will view the charter. Consultation has been agreed to by the Tui Macuata for them to go down to the villages and get whatever they can, that’s the consultation but the position of the Macuata to the charter, no there is no decision. They haven’t decided anything yet,” he said.

vinaka wailei for the revelations….agree totally with your thoughts on Tui Macuata…..especially the vaqara VP point….more likely they’ll get TP, which is what the charter documents will be once we get an elected govt.

Nawalowalo gets a smack in the face……… damn waht a shot !!!!!! thats a knockout shot !!.

  87. Puget Sound Says:

By re-formatting the G.C.C to exclude Chiefs who were involved in politics, creates a very hostile situation in the provinces, villages or tikinas. If someone else besides the rightful chief is the rep to the G.C.C I truly believe that will create tension between him and the chief and the villagers etc etc etc. When this happens, we are at a junction between disaster and annihilation. I wonder if Cdr FB and Nawalowalo have that scenario in mind. More or less it looks as if they are running out time and options.
