Hunter was manhandled: wife
26 FEB 2008
——————————————————————————–

Fiji Sun publisher Russell Hunter’s wife Martha says her husband was manhandled by men who took him from their Tamavua home last night, claiming to be immigration officers.

Speaking to Fijilive moments ago, Martha said reports given to the media by the Immigration department on the circumstances surrounding Hunter’s deportation were all lies.

“Russell returned from work at around 6.45pm and got into his shorts before watching TV when all of a sudden a vehicle parked outside.

“Two immigration officers came in while five other people waited in the car,” Martha said.

She said she could tell from their uniforms that they were from the Immigration Department

“They delivered a letter to Russell but it did not state the reason for his deportation or that he would be deported the following day.”

Martha said the men were agitated and started to get aggressive when Hunter tried to call his lawyer.

She said that’s when the men in the car got out and forcefully took him saying they ‘wanted to question him at the office’.

“My daughter and I were depressed and worried about him. But this morning we were relieved to get a call from Air Pacific confirming he was on the flight to Sydney,” Martha said.

She added she has been in contact with her husband in Australia.

Martha and their daughter have been given 21 days by the Immigration department to leave the country.

The interim Government has copped criticism over their action.

Dear Bloggers

Why oh why do grown men have to manhandle innocent people.

Why oh why do grown men have to manhandle innocent people in front of their families.

Why oh why is this behaviour so rife in Fiji since 5 December 2006 from grown men who work for this illegal, ignoramus group who deem to rule with the use of guns.

What kind of behaviour is this? So cowardly & craven.

Are these men & the others who manhandled Russell Hunter bashed Ballu Khan & his family, Laisa Digitaki, Angie Heffernan & Virisila Buadromo to name a few, Who murdered Verebasaga, Rabaka & Malasebe, proud of how they have hurt, humilated & traumatised these people & their families – Don’t they have families of their own?

What may I ask – because I cannot comprehend the need to hurt or humiliate another human being – gives them the right to be so cruel to another living being?

What do they hope to achieve by their inconceivable & unwarranted actions?

I am really worried that there are women out there who have not taught their sons the simplest values of life, Respect, Kindness, Humility & to always care for those who are not as strong in body or mind.

It is true that when an occassion arises like what happened on 5.12.06 & another coup is imposed upon the peaceful Island Nation of Fiji the types who crawl out from under their rocks to take advantage of the situation will always appear. It is unfortunate though that there is too much physical harm being done to those brave souls who protest or voice an opinion against the IGNORAMUS’ – voreqe bainimarama & his co conspirators – who take great offense at any constructive criticism.

If anyone was to take offense it is the innocent People of Fiji who have had to bite their tongue & watch as the village idiot voreqe rears his ugly head to spew forth dictatorial, didactic diatribes that we all know he couldn’t understand in a million years of education. His ‘homies’ like epeli ganilau who said he gave the order to deport Russell Hunter but then does not take any responsibility – this is why you will never win a seat in parliament mr $50.

I am hoping that Russell Hunter appears on television, writes in newspapers & gives as many interviews as possible & reveals to the world exactly what is happening in Fiji – Remember Andrew Hughes who was the legal Police Commissioner of Fiji who was threatened by voreqe & had to leave or his family would be killed? I hope they reveal all – that smug rabuka still has a lot to answer for, he’s not immune to a little (LEVU)bribery.

Remember the Linda Blair scene in the film The Exorcist when her head turns back to front – watch the ignoramuses as they all try to duck for cover & blame everyone else & their dog except for themselves & their satanic voreqe.

& THEY ALL FELL DOWN!!!!

I hope you all have a lovely day – & report as much as you can! Looking forward to your comments & reports of the misdeeds of the ignoramus’. Together we can all make Fiji a safer place for everyone & free of bullies, murderers & thieves. God Bless You All.

  1. FijiCID Says:

The chap who released the e-mails between Russell Hunter and Victor Lal the moment RH’s plane took off from Fiji was none other than Chaudhry sympathiser now residing in Australia – one Nikhil Singh – parts of the letter shown on Fiji TV clearly identified Victor Lal as the author of one of the e-mails – did tis chap, a former Fiji TV reporter, collude with the regime or Chaudhry to release those letters to discredit Victor and Russell, or did he follow orders from the Chaudhrys – he also promised to send more to them.

  2. Budhau Says:

Good job FijiCID – So this Nikhil Singh, who lives in Australia, has access to email communication between Russell Hunter and Victor Lal.
And even if he did, why would he not release this any earlier.

Let me go check the TV – that is news.

You see CID – this Hunter incident is all in our favour, it makes the Military and the IG look really bad – both locally and abroad – so do not go around trying to screw this up by coming up with your theories.

BTW – detaining and deporting Russell Hunter not only is wrong – if is also counter productive to what the IG is trying to do.

This is the knee-jerk reaction that we have seen from the military – they get pissed off, the want to mess with someone – and that is what makes these guys really dangerous.

Hello! Is the President Joe Mirror alive or dead? We have not heard from him for a long long time.

This is the time that the people of Fiji needs his reassurance that people must stay calm and not be agitated. There’s so many corruption and double standards going on at the moment and the useless Pressie needs to speak to the people.

Maybe he is on his back fighting another bout of flu or maybe he cannot walk and has as a result kept a low profile.

He should be removed from that position if he cannot perform its responsibilities.

  7. 12345678910 Says:

Any real soldier at camp who is pissed off with this regimes shenanigans and has information to share with us ,please send it to this site on the above address.

  9. natewaprince Says:

To Netani Rika and our local newspaper editors,we know you read this site.Do not let Russel Hunters expulsion deter you from your excellent work of revealing the corruption that is rife in this illegal regime.

    Keep up the good work.

  10. Peace Pipe Says:

These idiots in the illegal ig are behaving like they are above the law ’cause in spite of a court order stopping the deportation of Mr Hunter they still continued with the deportation pronto. They were trying to fight with time in doing so because if it was delayed they may not be able to remove him due to the weakness of their reasoning and possible court intervention which did come but was ignored. What about the thuggery of those who implemented the pick up and deportation of Mr Hunter. Just overheard on the radio the illegal i/minster of immigration $50 man trying to say he did not see the court order stopping the deportation. He stuttered and laboured in trying to explain his version of the incident. His lies were very conspicuous with all stops and starts in his interview as he tried to conjure some bullshits to cover up his error. We don’t deserve nor want this ig any more. What really strike me is the way the operatives swooped with rugged effeciency in removing Mr Hunter in such a short span of time. Wonder what is the driving force behind these henchmen. As much as a lot, and I mean a great big lot of us would like to speak out openly against and condemn this repressive lawless regime the thuggery committed by them without concern dampens any urge to do so. But with the way things are going we may not have to wait for too long before this house of cards of the ig falls. All of this illegalities and thuggery just because of the snake. In our perspective he is not worth it but to the ig he must be protected at all cost. Some very sinister behind all this. Could it be he is the real boss, financier and mastermind of the coup? We are now in a dangerous phase of the coup.

” There is no law in Fiji. ”

These words are now etched into the minds of people around the world.

Anyone who was thinking of having a holiday in Fiji, will now think again.

I wonder if the puppet illegal minister for tourism will speak out about this PR disaster for the tourism industry in Fiji.

  15. IslandBoy Says:

Peace Pipe I’m with you. Ratu Epeli was aware of the court order but did nothing. Natewa Prince – if Leone Cabenatabua and Netani Rika as well as others really read this site, ask them to check out the transactions of the operating accounts of the Fiji Embassy in China.

MaqaLeqa – I understand the people of Viseisei have long wanted the return of the Turaga Tui Vuda to them so they may care for him. FYI he is a gentlemen through and through, its Kavunono who is keeping him a virtual prisoner, so she can continue to enjoy the trapings of power and lets anyone in office abuse his Presidential powers. Even his children, Tu Boy, Di Lusi etc. are not allowed to enter the grounds of GH and their calls are not forwarded to him.

  16. Tebara Says:

Where is the president in all of this? After all he gave the Go-Ahead for Pig to seize power… all be it in his initial Dementia or Alzheimers state. He is not fit for office… and we should start making noises on same issue. For President to face the public and give us a message… if he has taken to permanent illness ..which is highly likely. He should step aside and stop wasting tax payers money in paying hefty sums… Isnt it enough that he is double dipping ….reaping lease money and then getting some more from the coffers of hard working citizens …. Enough is enough ..time to vacate governtment house and rest peacefully in his own residence.

And then again we have a cunning mother of all Interim govt that will happily have the ailing Pres by their side.. As long as the citizens dont stir the pot on his long silence. About time we ask of the condition and state of the PResident.

A person that holds office should be of sane and sound mind… any less than that is unacceptable!!!

  17. Tebara Says:

Islandboy … If the vanua of Vuda are genuine on their intent of having their Turagas return to their homeland. By all means they have every right as a vanua to go ahead as a contingent to govt house and bring him home to Vuda. In a Fijian custom even a wife has no authority over the chief whether alive or in death. I think it is best for the vanua of Vuda to seek his return home. It is a joke having him imprisoned at Govt house. Im sure his children and families dont wish their names to be dragged into the mud.

  18. Save the Sheep Says:

For all those who managed to catch Viti Nikua last night on Fiji One.

Great to hear Ratu Sava’s views and his consummate ways of putting the Vore in his place.

The sinister thing was listening to the rantings of the guy from Nadi, an obvious Military plant.

No respect low class guy that he was. But he does represent the views of many military guys who have just been plain ‘brain-washed’. It is one of the reasons why Fijians make such good soldiers, the follow without thought or reason and on the battle field that counts for a lot provided the leaders direct them well.

In the civilian setting these guys are just out and out dangerous, but I think it would be a lot of fun nevertheless to take the battle up to them.

In my family the military members are no longer welcome in my house.

We could all start right there.

Then some indirect harrassment as suggested by EFT, sugaring the vehicles, etc.

Direct Confrontation will not work. It is playing into their hands and they have the training and equipment to deal with it.

Nevertheless, it is time that rank and file members of the RFMF got the clear message that their leaders are wrong and that they are being lead up the garden path.. BIG TIME.

  19. ex Fiji Tourist Says:

One of the green goons posted above that he thought [very wrongly] that there was law in Fiji.

If this is the case, then we should see the arrest today of all those who, yesterday, disobeyed a high court order stopping the deportation of Mr Hunter.

The High Court order listed all those who had to obey the order.

If there are no arrests, then the judge is compromised and must resign.

If this doesn’t happen, then we can clearly and honestly state;_

” THERE IS NO LAW IN FIJI “

  20. Kacau Ni Gau Says:

  21. Tebara Says:

If the IG has its way there will be censored newspaper like those of China, Cuba and etc. Thank God for the hardpressed newspaper journalists and houses who stood their ground post 2006 coup and wont concede to any bullying tactics from Delainbua and their blockhead leaders.

  22. Tebara Says:

Kacau … there is no need for those ignorant comments. WE have come along way since 1879. Fiji had opened its door to the sugar cane labourers who came from India. They children have settled well in our beloved Fiji calling Fiji home. They have helped in buiding our economy tremendously and have identified themselves as being Fijians. Your kind of comments has a tone of mischief and unwanted racism. There are good and bad in every nation. What do u say of the PIG who is 100% fijian. Or better still imagine yourself being an offspring of a generation of nation uprooted from their homeland and taken 1000s of miles across seas. How do u classify yourself when as time progress u r not identified any more in the rightful land of your forefathers.

Lets not be like Vore with our critism. Lets be constructive in thinking whilst we build a better and equal tomorrow.

  23. BulaBula Says:

King Kong of the Wrongs have done it again!

Think of Russell Hunter’s deportation as a bonus for us.

No amount of $$$$$$$$$ could pay for this sort of advertising.

For our fight Russell Hunter was able to broadcast to the world in his interview 6 simple words!

“THERE IS NO LAW IN FIJI” they make it up each day!

What better way to tell the world that these goons have turned Fiji into a dictatorship tin pot nation with Bainimarama Law!

It is sad when it has to take someone elses misfortune for our gain.

There is NO law in Fiji. Justice delayed is also justice denied. As Russel Hunter notes: Law is whatever the Military (and their cowardly and opportunist hangers-on) choose to make it.

NIMILOTE VEREBASAGA’S NECK WAS BROKEN SAYS WIFE :

The wife of forty-four year old Nimilote Verebasaga says it’s been NINE months since her husband died and she’s still WAITING FOR ANSWERS

And there are others. When this is all over, military personnel blindly following the will of a man with an obvious disability should realise that the relatively few months that they’ve enjoyed stroking their own genitals and weapons whilst destroying the history and reputation of their employer will take a few generations to repair.

RFMF: Even though the likes of the UN might see it as expedient to use you as cannon fodder, don’t be under any illusion that you are trusted

  26. Tebara Says:

Kacau … I totally agree with u.. Im a taukei doing my bit also in a bid to protect our land. We will continue to voice our opinions on blogsite and state our case in public so that the IG is aware that we wont fight lying down. We wont sit either and watch them try to dismantle what is rightfully ours.

  27. yanu Says:

May be the request is coming too late, but to fellow bloggers who may have some evidence about that Howell Rd home, can that be forwarded onto Netani Rika or any other journalists you trust please. These journos — as shown on the Mahen Chodo tax goose-stepping case — will only help us if we help them.
BTW, how was Russell Hunter’s email leaked? Can we trust our emails now? Could it be leaked from the Fiji Sun itself or from Victor Lal or are the goons tapping into emails now?? Food 4 thought.

  28. Tim Says:

Still more……..This IllegalIG seems to be confusing transparency with predictability:

    Govt revives National Security Council
    27 FEB 2008
    ——————————————————————————–

Fiji’s interim Cabinet has approved the revival of the National Security Council (NSC) and the Fiji Intelligence Services (FIS).

This is to ensure a safe and secured Fiji from increasing terrorism threats, Cabinet said in a statement.

The approval was based on a submission by the interim Minister for Defence, National Security and Immigration, Ratu Epeli Ganilau.

The council will comprise interim Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama as chairman, Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, Defence minister Ratu Epeli Ganilau, Finance minister Mahendra Chaudhry and Police Commissioner Commodore Esala Teleni.

The council was first established in 1990 to protect the nation from activities such as espionage, sabotage, seditious intentions, foreign interventions and terrorism, and was disbanded in 1999.

Ratu Epeli said the national security landscape both internally and externally, is evolving and changing at a very fast pace.

According to Ratu Epeli, the Defence White Paper of 1997 recommended the establishment of the NSC to concentrate on national security matters like terrorism and clandestine operations instead of military operations.

Ratu Epeli said following the events of 9/11 in 2001 in the USA and recently in Bali, the focus of national security agencies the world over, is to combat rising terrorism worldwide.

“Because of the invisible nature of this terrorism threats and activities across national borders, it is now timely for Fiji to revive and re-energise its national security agencies to better prepare the country for any eventualities in the future.”

    Fijilive

….of course this was all preceded by the predicted “war games”.

Still, that’s a sign of the deluded malignant narcissist I guess!, that is, the notion that people are somehow more intellectually challenged than they are.
I’ve come across brain fried P Freaks with a better appreciation of their own capabilities than this pathetic little despot, though I concede that they aren’t as dangerous as to have taken a whole nation hostage!

  29. Tebara Says:

What load of garbage… they are the terrorist … wielding guns to get their means. Epeli Nailatikau (Ulukau) better be pointing to his so called fellow council members for the very act of espionage..) This very so called self appointed government are committing terror acts on members of the public who dare to stand up and voice their opinion. Expelling expats from Fiji(even though they have proof) who dare to show the public the shonky dealings of this regime. Ohhh forget that they have an order not to touch or expel Russell from Fiji. There is no law. Wipeass Kaiyum will continue to suck Piggys dick and gently handle Chodos stick…!! Ulukau can take his newly enlisted council members and shove all of them up his azz.

If the regime is reading this ..or their ball sucking ‘yes sir inferiors’ …!! U r better off planting cassava and polishing guns.

  30. ex Fiji Tourist Says:

Mr Fa said the Immigration Department had clearly declined to comply with a High Court order that stayed the department’s decision to deport Mr Hunter.
Mr Hunter was taken in for questioning by seven officials – two from the immigration department and five plain-clothes men on Monday night, but was deported early yesterday morning on a flight FJ 911 to Sydney. “If it is true that the immigration officials defied the High Court order, I think this should set alarm bells ringing that the rule of law is in deep trouble in Fiji,” Mr Fa said.
He added that the Interim Government must take action against those involved in deliberately flouting a court order, if the regime wanted to restore public confidence in the existence of the rule of law.

  31. Tim Says:

Anyone else see any parallels between the past few days and this:
    http://www.michaelfield.org/opinion%20constitution.htm ?

Just as an aside, I’m not sure even Palmer or Quentin-Baxter could use Shaista as a legitimate reference.

This junta is chasing its tail. The expulsion might be the very thing needed for it to get of its merry-go-round but then maybe not…..A semi-literate, under-acheiving and paranoic narcissist in command of an out of tune band of opportunists might spend their entire careers going round in circles while their environment turns to shit. Look at Zimbabwe.

NZ and Aus, Tonga, Samoa, PNG, New Caledonia, Cooks: Wake the FUCK up! or don’t bleat afterwards about the consequences.

  32. BulaBula Says:

Epeli Ulukau will say anything that comes to his head because he has no land to protect. Maybe some of the Mara land that was given to them by their father.

He won’t care about that either because his marriage to Koila Mara is only a marriage of convenience now.

They both had it in their heads that if they got married it would enrich their chiefly status.

All the “taukei” protect your land! Don’t let them take it away!

  33. FijiCID Says:

    Yanu

It cant be Victor Lal – the e-mail on Tv showed one from Victor Lal to RH and vice versa – their e-mails to each other was hacked into = so it it presumed – but it goes back only to 2 February – which means it might have been stolen by some Fiji SUN staff and given to the enemies – where did this chap NIK -IT- got it from ?

  34. Pusiloa Says:

  35. iribuli Says:

The revival of FIS above??? Well, one of the first things chodo dismantled in 1999 when he took office was the FIS. It was obvious then that he did not want it to be snooping around while emptied government coffers. Now they are talking about the threat of terrorism. What a waste of funds. The only threat of terrorism is from the army camp. Ironically they are boltering that institution every year for $90 million ..now over $120 million??So they’re creating that institution FIS to report to whom …ganilau and mara clan???

Now that he has rfmf and all in his pocket, he is starting, set up thr council, bring in his Indian advisers and off he goes like a Mad March Hare.

  41. Fiji Democracy Now Says:

The revelation that the deportation of Fiji Sun publisher, Russell Hunter, ignored an order by the High Court of the Republic of Fiji is another damning indictment of the Bainimarama dictatorship and its total disregard for the rule of law.

By subverting the law and engaging in crude Gestapo tactics, Fiji’s military-backed regime is once again demonstrating its true, illegal nature.

But this latest episode by a serial abuser of office and human rights is different in one important respect. This time the whole world is looking on.

And others don’t like what they see, as evidenced by strong statements from the governments of New Zealand and Australia.

Moreover, in mass media terms, because Hunter was thrown out of Fiji for
incurring the wrath of the CHODOPU$$, what had been a domestic Fiji news story has suddenly become an international one.

The tawdry financial dealings of the CHODOPU$$ have taken on a whole new life as a juicy scandal in the island paradise of Fiji: a corrupt minister (a former prime minister no less!), his tax evasion and his huge overseas banks accounts.

By acting as a law unto themselves, Bainimarama and Chaudhry have well and truly shot themselves in the foot.

The only positive aspect of this very public outing of Fiji’s desperate leadership is that it will increase international pressure on them to stick to a March 2009 election timetable.

After this disastrous Bainimarama/Chaudhry interlude, Fiji’s return to full
parliamentary democracy-and a free media-cannot come soon enough.

  42. Peace Pipe Says:

Linus the thought of mai chodo’s plan for indianising Fiji is possible and scary. The idea of a take over of the country by the chodo and his indian cohorts has credibity by the looks of things thats going on. As we are aware India is a fast growing economy and they need to get foothold in various parts of the world. It could be that they are working fast on the Fiji plan as their numbers in Fiji are rapidly dwindling and they would be far outnumbered to be of any significant force. The creation of the NSC is indeed amusing and reminds me of the old cold war days of espionage and counter espionage and all those spy stories akin to the Bond thrillers. However the only people they will be spying are their own citizens in Fiji and not any overseas intrusion. Like little kids playing cowboys and Indians.

  43. Seini Says:

The IG have won this round by force, not by right or by law, but it will not always be so. Their turn will come to stand in the dock. Now they have guns backing them but they do not have the people of Fiji. justice or the law on their side. The people, justice and law can be resisted for a time, but not forever. The flagrant breach of all standards of justice meted out to Russell Hunter will not go unpunished. Epeli Ganilau will find that his privileged upbringing has prepared him poorly for life in Naboro or Korovou.

  44. anon Says:

The decision to deport Russell came from the PIG himself. All those ministers do not even own their fucken balls that is why they denied and were not even sure what was happening. Ra yavu no conscious!!

  45. yanu Says:

My bet is was Netani Rika, and the threatner (if there’s such a word), my money is on the vore…

  46. Soul of Fiji Says:

In the Australian newspaper today, I quote…..

Diplomatic sources, as well as Mr Hunter said Mr Chaudhary’s son Rajendra had boasted that the publisher would be “out of the country by Wednesday”.

So that proves once and for all that Choro’s is the real leader (boss) of the coup, PIG like the rest of the army are just that …army…follow the command without any questions asked.

Everytime we say that Choro is the boss, the PIG does something to show that he is the boss, like making the comments that the Military council decides this or that.

Kacau ni… wrote, “Budhau; remember 1879 with 460 Indians Slaves on the Leonidas washed up on the Fiji shores to work on sugar plantation:—– fast forward 2008, – 460,000 Indians will be shipped on the HMS No Come Back (Bilibili) to search for a new Indian continent. (back to India) stay tuned !!!!!!”

and when did you ancestors wash up on the shores on Fiji – or I get it they were not slaves, they were conquerers. Does that mean that taking someones land away by conquest is fine.

  51. FijiGirl Says:

Budhau – Good to see you’re still busily merrily plumbing the depths of idiocy. Thank you for admitting that what we see here is an attempt at ‘take someones land away by conquest’. Being able to admit your mistake is the first step…

  52. Budhau Says:

Sorry guys…I’m on medication (SPCA meds) rite now and saying strange things.

Again I admit that I’m ignorant retard. Please ignore my previous posts.

PS: I got conquered again- twice last nite and again this afternoon, this time by 3 platoons of pinati soldiers. So much for the vaseline, mite as well have been sandpaper.

I’m dog tired and weary of this life….

  53. Tebara Says:

Arehh Budhau … !! why dont u do wat tired and frustrated indos do when they dont seem to get anywea…!! First get kerosene… Second ..Pour keroseno from your hair to your toes …

Finally … Let them matches boy ….!! LOL …!! I dont mean to be mean ..Im merely pointing away for u to end all of your misery … LOL ..!!

    When all that is done .. I still love U … !!

  54. Puf-Military Says:

Hey Budhau give us a break already. You got already got owned multiple times by other posters and seriously making a fool of yourself.

If you’ve nothing of value to add, kindly refrain from posting nonsense.

    Enough of ur lousy posts.

  55. Budhau Says:

Tebara – that kerosene thing – they don’t do it to themselves, I thought they did it to their wives when they don’t get enough dowry money, back in the old country.

Seriously though – why bother with the March – the IG is screwing it big time – give them enough time and they will hang themselves. Their is a sinking ship.

As for Chaudary – he was supposed to be a Mr Fix-it-all, has he fixed anything – Nope, so what do you think the military council is going to do with Chaudary, I see Felix Anthony already eyeing the FLP chiefs job.

You guys start marching etc – they will vent their frustration on those that they feel threatened by.

  56. Tebara Says:

Budhau -I didnt know u 2 b an expert on that kerosene thingy. I thought it was either consumed and or used as a catalyst for their own funeral saving family cremation last rite. Anyhoo.. either way .. u shud still use it for your last rite shud u wish to escape the trivias of life …!!

On a more serious note. A call to a nation wide march as to show regime passive resistance on their dealing is not viable at present. Not until a majority is in unison and there is a wide consensus and backing on the issue. I dont think we as a public should be putting our lives on the line if we only have a few backers or faithful citizen turning up for the march. For sure there will be a ten folds army truck at each checkpoint intimidating and harassing citizens.

The power is in numbers. It is time for vigilance and wisdom as we seek a Higher Authority for direction in how to best voice our concern in public. May God protect, guide and give directions to our brothers and sisters and community leaders who are ready to lay down their lives for the good of our nation.

  57. JAZZZ Says:

Bhudau: WHy discourage people when they are motivated?? If they want to march, why not??? Let them march….If you have reservations, well that’s your problem .
