As the weekend draws near, we at Solivakasama would like to leave you with this thought.
For months now, this weblog, Fiji Sun writer Victor Lal, the real Prime Minister Mr Laisenia Qarase and trade unionist Taniela Tabu had highlighted the fact that a very senior member of the illegal Interim Government has a prima facie case of tax evasion hanging over his neck.
Whistle Blowers have apparently left them with evidence, in fact, extracts from Chaudary’s tax files with the Fiji Islands Revenue and Customs Authority, showing that he was being pursued by that Authority for tax evasion and for failing to lodge tax returns for a span of four years.
He also appears to have suddenly acquired millions of dollars into his Australia bank account within a short period of time. Ask any forensic accountant or fraud investigator worth his salt and he will tell you this is a typical alarm bell highlighting possible corruptions by a person holding public office. It could come either by bribery or kickbacks or fraudulent conversion etc.
It has been widely exposed on this site that the so called Robin Hood, champion of the poor and the down trodden, advocate of democracy, freedom and the eradication of corruption is the Minister in question. Yes, it is no other then the leader of the Fiji Labour Party and current (illegal) Interim Finance Minister Mahendra Pal Chaudary.
Today, we woke up to read his challenge, as reported in the Fiji Times, that he dares the media to publicly name him as the said tax evader.
And later on today we read on the fijilive.com website that Mr Laisenia Qarase, by telephone interview from Lau, has said that early next week, he will name him and reveal to the media the evidence he has on how Mahendra Pal Chaudary, the Robin Hood has actually converted money intended for poor sugarcane farmers affected by a cyclone a few years ago for his own personal use.
YES THE WORLD WILL FINALLY HAVE EVIDENCE THAT MAHENDRA CHAUDARY IS A TAX FRAUD AND ROBS FROM THE POOR TO ENRICH HIMSELF!!!
Have a happy and blessed weekend.
The Solivakasama Team.

Obviously the media will not name him because of the potential damages claim in Court that could arise. But surely the Australian authority similar to teh FIU can investigate the unusually large amount of money that was deposited in his account and the origin and the intended use of that money.
All they have to check is whether it followed proper procedures-ie. if the funds were expended as intended by the original contributor. I’m sure that some sort of law has been broken!
We get so frustrated because all the information that has been made available are still not enough for action to be initiated against this big crook! Bloody Maiya Chodo!
February 22, 2008 at 5:34 pm
There was a link posted in a blog some time back relating to an Aussie federal Govt dept website where you can report suspicious financial transactions, accounts etc… that can be investigated?? anyone familiar with that???

By challenging the media to name the minister accused of tax evasion the CHODOPU$$ is not being sincere and is instead playing games.
He knows all too well that if, say, it were he who was named, then he could immediately slap a lawsuit on the organisation concerned and thereby effective gag further public discussion.
As well, the sincereity of his gambit has to be questioned in light of the fact that the last time officials in FIJI had the temerity to look into a certain interim minister’s tax files, 10 of them were summarily suspended.
No, the only way the CHODOPU$$ can conclusively prove that he is on the straight and narrow and has nothing to hide is to do what any minister would do in the name of transparency and accountability. He should declare all his interests for public scrutiny.
If it’s good enough for the President of the United States of America it should be good enough for the CHODOPU$$.
By the way, we at FDN can claim credit for coining the term, CHODOPU$$. We thought it fully describes a furtive, bottom-feeding creature whose grasping tentacles are into everything.
What’s more, we don’t charge any copyright for its usage by others. We would only ask that you pass it on to a friend or a relative so that more people are alerted to the dangers posed by a lurking CHODOPU$$.
You can get a good look at the CHODOPU$$ on this link

yes FDN. Chaudhary should also step down and allow a full investigation into these allegsations.
February 22, 2008 at 5:54 pm
I’m shocked , I thought he was above reproach !
Just kidding , so the pigeons are coming home to roost ?
February 22, 2008 at 6:08 pm
During world war two , a psychological profile was done on Hitler and probably other members of various organisations . Given that both Frank and Chaudhry were both almost killed in 2000 , is it possible that they have become delusional or are mentally unstable ? Do they simply think that they are invincible ? Does anyone have any idea about their true mental state and if so , what is it and does that explain their behaviour ?
February 22, 2008 at 6:36 pm
I believe Helen Clarke, and one or two others involved in an attempt to stall Frank’s coup attempt are well aware of his mental state – as should be most of meagre intelligence that serve under him.
Helen made some remark akin to “we have a madman on our hands”.
Unfortunately Political Correctness gone mad, and the pathetic efforts from all involved in the Pacific Plan prior to that mean that everyone’s now wrist clenching and spouting “coulda, shoulda, woulda” and hoping for some miracle accident.
After 18 months or so, the diplomatic approach, negotiation, “engagement”, smart sanctions that aren’t that smart and other bullshit appears to have done little other that to line a few pockets on clothing worn by those with delusions of grandeur, paternalism and a born to rule attitude.
Never mind, whilst it hard yakka to have to live through and tolerate, I have yet to come acros any such person that hasn’t eventually come to a very sticky end (often premature death)
February 22, 2008 at 6:38 pm
Staff at the Sr. Giles Mental Hospital know that Frank was once a patient there. His file disappeared after the coup last year. Don’t know about chodopuss but I have met staff who can verify this. The pig is a former mental patient! Notice any unusual behavior from him lately? How about the last time on TV after the cyclone. He had a still cameras and was trying to take pictures of the victims while being interviewed by the reporter! Hahaha, a basket case leading this nation to nowhere.

Yeah right, this mai chodo after many months of inferences against him as the tax evaders has now challenged the media to name him as the unnamed illegal minister who cheated the tax dept. Why was he quiet then and all of a sudden started speaking up now. Yeah he must have covered up all his dirt by now that he is talking confidently. Everything seemed to be taken care of such as the removal of staff who looked into his tax documents, denial by chairman of FIRCA that there was no tax misdeed in chodo’s case, of course bole would say that since they are just saving each others asses. Now that the internal evidence is sufficiently covered up he can boldly speak up. He must have had a hand in his own cover up directing and paying people to do his dirty work like he did with the Vore and his brainless army. It always works wonders the power of money. Lets wait and see what happens next week when more exposures will be forthcoming.
On another note I find lawyer Komaisavai as a heroic person to be able to say what he said challenging the bipolar pig vore. I only hope and pray that nothing untowards happens to him as he is one with rare courage to even risk his own life in doing so. This man has shown Fijians what is happening to them and how to go about it by taking the stand against it unlike some yellow livered chief who just give in and let the vore have his own villifying way.
A lot of stupid comments have been coming from this lunatic bunch in the ig such as comments made by the vore about the clean up as being incomplete as yet and other ludicrous comments not worth repeating. Then we have shamimi talking about the racial problem we had previously and that they are addressing it in the charter. What a load of hog wash. There is more racial divide now than ever before. Even the international HRC questioned the independence of the FHRC. ross ligairi’s report to the CERD again mentioned the racial problem in Fiji which led to the coup and the setting up of the charter. What racial problem may I ask. All this bullshits to international orgs just to paint themselves a noble and receptive picture. I cannot think of race as being a problem before until now that they are making it an issue. It seems to be their desperate bid to use race as a justification now since the corruption claim is now null and void.

We all need a giggle, Frank’s new hat !

Just lets hope that Fiji Times, which NEVER touched the story at all, with the help of one idiot residing in New Zealand, will not mess up everything for the Fiji SUN, which I believe was very, very, very close to getting him. Some coolies just dont learn – it seems – if this idiot in NZ had the evidence why didnt he name the Minister or went to the Fiji SUN – Anyway, lets see what has FT to say

I thought that this Victor Lal had this iron clad case against Chaudary. He even quoted some UK case as precedent that in case of a public figure like this, confidential tax information may be disclosed.
So what seems to be the problem – all Chaudary is say is “put up or shut up”.
I have said it many time before in here, this Lal guy ain’t someone who is going to bring about the downfall of Chaudary.
Lal seems to be some one who was with Chaudary at one time, and now is running around as one pissed guy because his relationship with Chaudary did not work out – and there are many Indian like that – in the Labour movement, the NFP, the Cane growers unions etc. For these guys, their universe revolves around Chaudary (like some in this forum also).
Lal will continue to milk that one file that he has god hold off – a little bit at a time, otherwise the man does not have anything else to fall back on.
So lets have it, Lal, name the guy in the newspapers – and since you have that Oxford educations and all that legal legal stuff about some UK case that is one your side – lets see how you stack up against this high school educated Chaudary.
BTW – did anyone ever read anything from this Victor Lal guy that was against this coup and the IG – besides this Chaudary bashing.

check out the fiji times website..he’s been named..!!!!!!!!!
February 23, 2008 at 10:35 am
Can the people who were sacked from FIRCA in relation to this matter all team up and give evidence if this “excuse of a human being” does put up a legal challenge against the Fiji Times. Me qai macala mada na noda mai vakalolomataki tiko na Kai Viti!!!

February 24, 2008 at 1:31 pm
What evidence – that they have seen all the papers that were submitted by Chaudary’s accountants and the report from Australia of all Fiji residents who have earned interest from Australian financial institution.
Iron clad – talking about milking – Isn’t it Victor Lal who milking everybit out that file that was sent to him – what will he do when that runs out.
The important thing is not what Victor Lal, or I are milking – the important thing is that people in forums such as these are now looking up at the Victor Lal as some Hero.

Oilei Boida, sorry i mean Budhau, the money was collected from donations to be used for the people in Fiji. Chodo did not have or established a charity organization in order to channel these funds to what and who it was donated for? It is against the law of Fiji,Australia and New Zealand, for a person to ask for donations of funds, from the general public and later decided to keep the funds for his personal use. The problem is not only about tax, but the missuse of funds by Chodo for his personal use.Now we know that the funds have been moved around guite a lot in Australian Banks as well as in New Zealand. Now who was his accomplished that was involved in the movements of these funds.Didn’t he had a son going to school in Aussie land at about the time in question? Was he involved in the illegal transactions?

budhau — THE MISINFORMATION YOU ARE PEDDLING IS NOT SELLING …..
stop with the trolling and your various sock puppets to raise doubts about:
1. NLTB – yes there are problems there – but this govt is coming at it from the wrong angle, like a bull in a china shop, certainly no surgical precision they way Frank and his IG cronies bumble about…. its truly 2 steps forward and 10 backwards coz they crap at reform and bringing about transparency, as they are with all the reform they’re trying to bring about
2. GCC – yes membership can be improved and the demarcation between the politicians in Cabinet and the GCC began in 1999 with the chiefs electing their own chairman and choosing their agenda. They have made various decisions and recommendations to the Ministry over the years for the reform of the Fijian Administration. Don’t speak about that which you know little about. As the saying goes, a little knowledge is a dangerous thing..
3. Chaudhry – the compromise of his position as Finance Minister is clear as water. He appoints the FIRCA Board – he appointed Bole. Chaudhry did not submit tax returns for 2000-3. When he did, he did not own up about investment income on the monies from Haryana until the oz taxmen informed FIRCA. And then he claimed it was in trust – he then lied about it in Parliament. This is all now public record. This is why Chaudhry must RESIGN now. His credibility is shot, to say the least.
4. De-reservation – Supposedly an expert on Fiji, Krishnamurti recommended the de-reservation of ALL native land – its there in black and white in his report. Did he mean the abolition of the NLTB and individual (rather than communal) land holding of native land? another reading of the report can lead to this because he prefers individual land-holding of native land. If he did not mean this, how seriously should we take him and the Minister he reported to Chaudhry – because reserved land is that on which villages sit and where landowners cultivate their crops. So how SERIOUSLY should we take these two, who don’t even UNDERSTAND what the Native Land Act says? And this is worrying – why? because the IG has taken upon itself a power of making laws by regulation. Do you get it? THE IG HAS BEEN MAKING ANY LAW IT WANTS. Should we believe Frank and Chaudhry when they say landowners will be consulted? Look at their track record: on the GCC taskforce, they ignored 2 key recommendations. Did they consult anyone about FIRCA? About the changes to the Judiciary?
The people already spoke at the 2006 elections. Frank, Chaudhry and the IG don’t have a good record when it comes to consultation and LISTENING to the people of Fiji. So I’d say concern is warranted. And stop with the “political agenda” , “parochial interests” accusations – they dont float buster.
At the heart of good governance which the RFMF, Frank, FLP and Chaudhry are talking about includes COMMUNICATING and LISTENING and RESPONDING APPROPRIATELY to the people. Can we start with that – ie a response that does not SHOOT THE MESSENGER – ie media, concerned chiefs and commentators. Chiefs speak for their people and elected people like Qarase and Beddoes were ELECTED i.e. they represent people and do not speak out of the barrel of a gun.
But Frank and Chaudhry have lost credibility, so they must regain that if they are serious about good governance and doing things in the interest of the people of Fiji. “Governance” and “the people” cannot be pulled out whenever its expedient and then when they do speak, whether as individuals or as representatives, don’t stomp on their mouths as you have been doing metaphorically since day 1. Or haven’t the IG learnt anything over the last year? coz it certainly seems like it.
February 25, 2008 at 1:11 pm
Well..well..what’s done is done and I think the important thing now is the rule of law..Now we will really see who is above the law and whose not..If it easy for the regime to get away with murder then how difficult would it be to evade the tax man..Begging for a dollar…begging for a dime..that’s what happened in India and geez looked what happened..the dime and dollar has become millions..somebody owe the people of Fiji an explanation especially the Indo Fijians…I say sack the man and deduct tax at source..let Ceaser take what’s his…

Gud Gov, excellent write up! Maybe its time for us to take to the street? Maybe its time to bear arms for our rights and Freedom? Maybe its time for us to bear arms against the dictatorial powers of a few for the rights and freedom of the many? If we happen to die here,at least we know why we’re dying for? Lets take these bastards to task and make sure it doesn’t happen again?
