More Regime Rubbish!

By solivakasama

Some things that have been bothering me about recent developments:

For instance, Mahen’s proposal of contract Sugar farming for de-reserved native land. Basically, contract farming is small farming done right. It is the way that Crest Chicken successfully outsources it’s chicken production, and it is the way that the Sugar industry should have been set up in the first place. Professor John Davies recommended this model almost 10 years ago, but it has always been rejected by Chaudhry and the NFU. ALTA is a very restrictive legislation, and may not even allow contract farming. But the very fact that Chaudhry is offering it as a sweetener now suggests that it may in fact be possible under ALTA. The question then looms, sugar’s overall viability aside, why is he only offering this solution for de-reserved land? Why not for all Sugar land? If contract farming so great for one kind of land, why is it not even considered for existing sugar land, where landowners can get 33% of proceeds there too? On the other hand, why did they have to go to all the effort and expense of convening CBUL just to re-propose the 10% UCV rentals that has been “on the table” since 1999, meaning that Chaudhry could have agreed to it any time since then if he was really serious? The reason is two-faced, liu-muri politics as usual!

The second thing that annoys me about this is the IG’s usual habit of not practicing what they preach. Frank and John Sami have made a big deal of trying to build what they call a “trust-based society” through their Charter. Nice words as usual, but how does this happen practically? How for example do Frank and Mahen propose to cultivate trust with Fijians when they have gone behind their backs on the sensitive matter of land with CBUL, the native land de-reservation program, and unilateral, unlawful and unchecked changes to the Native Lands Board and Act? They have already demonstrated their lack of respect for Fijian choices and views by illegally removing their lawful choice of Government!

So assurances of land safety, and tabetabe promises to respect landowners just don’t “cut it” when there’s also no guarantee that these guys even know what they’re talking about, or that any of their proposals will succeed anyway. And in any case, there’s certainly no sign that they are prioritizing landowner interests in this? If they were really serious about building trust and sustainability, they simply wouldn’t be bull-dozing their way over landowner concerns. They would just take as long as it needed, and do whatever it took, to gain landowner trust BEFORE proceeding. But the fact that they are racing ahead helter-skelter, shows that trust-building and sustainability is not their primary interest here. No – their real priority is their mad rush to try and “resurrect” the Sugar industry out of the doldrums before the next elections, because their primary concern is their own political credibility then! So much for their claims that their clean-up takeover was the only way to fix Fiji’s “deeper issues” that democracy and the rule of law supposedly couldn’t fix!

And another thing, I completely disagree with John Sami over his rubbish claim that the Military Charter is Frank’s “exit strategy” from the quagmire of the December 6th coup! Garbage! The Charter is Frank’s RE-ENTRY strategy to give him carte blanche (denied to him under the Constitution), to intervene militarily into civilian political affairs any time the will of the people and parliament departs from his own ignorant opinions in future! Bugger that! We’ve already seen what his dimwit opinions, “solutions” and politics have done to Fiji since December ‘06! Why would we want to accommodate that sort of interference again in future?

Finally, the Charter’s real aim is to simply give the regime/FLP a tax-payer funded “free ride” of feel-good campaigning in the run up to next year’s elections. In any election campaign, all candidates are allowed to promote their own views & policies, and criticize those of their competitors. But the grassroots Charter promotion process, amply buttressed by Raturala’s daily dose of dung, will merely be the latest version of the disastrous Truth and Justice campaign. A political campaign masquerading as a nation-building program, it will be a free ride not just in terms of funding, but also in terms of opposition. Any opponents will be loudly maligned in the media and via the process itself, as only “wanting to prevent the nation from moving forward”! But I’m betting that despite all this liu muri rigging and handicapping, it’ll just turn out to be another T&J debacle in the end because Fijians aren’t as gullible as they think!

By the way, has anyone ever heard of a Government leader going overseas just to “inspect” a hospital? Frank’s current trip to India sounds very suspicious to me. Why had nobody ever heard of this trip before? And if it was truly a inspection review, why didn’t Jiko Luveni go? Is anyone aware of Frank’s real state of physical and mental health these days? I wonder if the Indian Hospital in question has any psychiatric ward? Or do they have a treatment for guilty conscience insomnia, or “kalou ni draki”, or some of the other Fijian curse diseases?

Frank the curse of the whole of Fiji are following you until the day you are in your grave!!!!

  2. Indian Says:

Landowners should have been getting 33% for their share all along. This figure is more in line with international standards. There is quite a range, with Fiji the lowest in the World at about 2% and India on the upper side at 50%. Why isn’t Indian Mahen proposing 50% for his “community” (that he is holding trust funds for in Australia)?

Sounds like a good plan. Instead of millers and farmers share, make it millers, farmers, and landlord’s shares. Whatever the millers don’t get is shared equally by landowners and cane farmers. This is administratively simple and already set up. Forget about UCV. They will be arguing about that one forever. How well is it defined? Is there an inflation clause? The bottom line is what the land earns, and that should be shared.

For the sake of multi-racial harmoney, do it. Forget all the Sami BS in the Charter, just give the Fijians their fair share of the money!

Vore’s trip to india …perhaps to get more briefing from the Indian Govt & get more paisa for the next move.

Good article. But I believe, landowners should also seriously consider halting giving any more leases to Indian cane farmers (sugar cane, vegetables etc..) and put a stop to this sugar industry in its present form..once and for all.Let it collapse. Leasing land out for agricultural puroses as such will not give a fair return from their land resources. Its high time land owners form their own comapnies that will be tasked to invest in the commercial utilisation of their land on a massive scale and target the export markets. Such investments can be made on having their own private small sugar mills, ethanol plants, starch, etc that can be derived from local produce like kumala, dalo, cassava, etc. This can rake in $millions per year for them for each small mill and they can fully utilise all their mataqali land holdings in this way..or several mataqalis can form a joint venture with each other and go into this investments. All mataqalis in Fiji have got their sons and daughters educated in the last 40 or so years so they can form the nucleus to initiate these move. In the Philipines, they have put aside 700,000 ha of land to be used for planting yams, cassava, kumala, etc for the production of alcohol for the export market. In the changing fortunes of time, Fijians must now think outside the box, stop feeling giuilty and stop thinking small. They must be bold and wise. Its time they play a different game and they should now live to define the rules of the game here in Fiji. This is how they can do it. It is not hard nor is it easy but we must start thinking this way. This should be included in the vision and cry of new Fijian leaders now especially when moving into the next election. They must halt the leasing pout of their lands to others and they must commercially invest in them.

this proposal from indian arsehole clearly exposes another real motive for the coup. the indians r after our land. the article is right, why the indians did not accept the increase in UCV then but offering this now???
why the indians want the land??
why indians always calling fijians racist?
    why this coup?
why they opposed every initiative of the deposed govt?
why fijians r specifically being targetted [torture, murdered, etc].

    why? why?

why the fuck did these arseholes in the military were thinking when they were following orders?? the truth is, I don’t fuck about these soldiers and the indians….when this is over!! we’ll be coming after each & every one of u.

The lies from the illegal, incompetent military junta get bigger and sillier every day.

bananasinpyjamas applied for a visa to come to Australia for urgent cardiac surgery. This was rejected as he is considered a criminal. The junta tells the lie that he didn’t apply.

The jaundiced junta then quickly gets him booked in to a hospital in India and tells the lies that he is going to inspect the hospital. The only thing that he will inspect is the ceiling.

If only the surgeon’s knife would slip. I imagine that Fiji would have a week of celebrations.

  10. Peace Pipe Says:

It is disappointing that nothing happens whenever the bipolar pig Vore goes overseas. Nothing in the form of a coup, retaking of the government from the robbers or something momentous and disastrous to this illegal regime. I fail to understand why aren’t anyone making any move in this direction when the opportunity presents itself. It is possible that the bipolar lunatic pig really has a very large support???? The thought of it is really mind boggling. Or is everyone waiting patiently for natural justice (in a divine form) to take its course. It true we have one more year to go before we are freed from this bondage of dictatorship the suffering of the people continues unabated and increases by the days. Our mental strength and stability is being put to severe stress by the actions of those in the illegal IG. How much longer can we tolerate this nonsense going on. It would be a blessing if a divine intervention takes place sooner than later and theres no better time than now when the Vore is going for medical. With Vore out of the way watch the fun begins when all the IG members especially mai chodo and i-arse run like rat to save their miserable asses.

If you ask me – I think those guys wearing the green uniforms & think they are soldiers of the Royal Fiji Military Forces are a bunch of lily livered scaredy cats – gutless men who feel brave only when they are armed.

Are they as friggin’ dumb as their stupid commander they can’t hog tie him & keep him imprisoned until the SDL & the Judiciary restore government. One of them just has to pretend to shoot the piece of shit & he’ll have a heart attack – SO WHAT ARE THEY WAITING FOR.

Hey do you know that the prisoners are now training the prison officers in all kinds of disciplines??? Ha yes, Francis Kean is training them inside on all kinda stuff…thats why he had to go and have a tea party at the base…and collect material for training etc….. This is the new rehabilitation programme by the new commissioner…. they allowed to come out and have church service on sunday at the Nasinu Prison and mingle with civil society…What happened to the Civil Rights that you lose when you become a convicted person huh? You are supposed to be punished for your crime and are stripped of some of your civil rights..
Its really changed in prison now, its in fact a really nice place to be….no wonder…they are full, they love it in there, it is better than homee…some of them re-offend just to get back inside…
On the other hand this illegal govt is being very nice to them, training them in all kinds of things, battle skills etc so that when the time comes for the people to rise up- the prisoners will protect the govt…. HAHAHAHA
Woilei are they so dumb,, when there is a revolution, the first people the prisoners will kill are the judges, police com, iarse kumkum, baini and chirrdychorrrrrr, they wont touch the prison officers….they will go for the rest….so better watch your backs baini and co.. thats if u survive the india trip….. the curse has started Baini

  20. Col.Tomu Says:

Well, the truth of the matter is Bais trip to India was immediately arranged by Chodory due to a mental breakdown. It gets pretty bad last year and Indian Doctors who were hired to look after him recommended that he be admitted to a mental hospital for a rest. But the Indo in the IG figured that they don’t want the FMF to know Bai mental condition so they figured a Tour away from Fiji may just give him time to relax and thats why they send him to the Middle East with the pretence of Just visiting the Military people. But while in the Middle East his condition continue to get worse and upon his return to Fiji his mental Conditions seems to have taken a total chaotic state. He was talking to himself, screaming in the middle of his sleep, peed his pant and shit all over his Prime Minister office. The IG indos disporas lead by Chodory figured that he should be despatched immediately to an Indian Hospital for hospitalization and in the meantime they will try to get another military person to take over Bainimarama position and whom they can control? The longer they keep Bainimarama out in India the easier they can find another puppet leader to pull a coup? I know that they’re already in touch with some and meetings have been going on in Gates house into the early hours of the morning.I know for sure that Chodory and his Indos dispora in the IG are totally worried that if a pro-Fijians took over from Bai it could mean to total mass evacuation of the Indos from Fiji.It just might be worse than Uganda?
