Interim Prime Minister Commodore Bainimarama should institute an investigation into the tax evading interim minister, says ousted Prime Minister and Soqosoqo Duavata ni Lewenivanua party leader Laisenia Qarase.
Mr Qarase said he was surprised by the directive given by Finance Minister Mahendra Chaudhry for the Fiji Islands Revenue and Customs Authority to investigate the SDL company, Duavata Initiative Limited. It further surprised Mr Qarase that the sum of $1.7million was made public in yesterday’s Fiji Sun.
And he called on Cdre Bainimarama to exercise a sense of balance and investigate and expose the tax evading minister.
Speaking from his residence at Mavana Village, Mr Qarase said he was surprised by the $1.7million figure.As far as Mr Qarase was concerned, the party was not involved in tax evasion as he understood election funds since 1970 were exempted from tax.
He said there was no breach of the Income Tax Act.
This is supported by the FIRCA report where it said it was their view that there was no tax risks associated with the company as it was in receipt of exempt income.
However, Mr Qarase said: “The greatest political cover-up since independence is the suppression of non-disclosure of the Cabinet minister involved in tax evasion and the non-disclosure of his personal accounts in overseas banks.
“From the information I have, the minister has three overseas accounts, one with a balance of $1million and there are two trust accounts one with a balance of $300,000 and the other $400,000. I now call on interim Prime Minister Cdre Voreqe Bainmarama to institute an investigation on this particular minister.”
The Fiji Labour Party was after the Duavata Initiative Limited (DIL) since 2004, he said.
There was a parliamentary question filed by FLP senator Dr Atu Bain which was replied to by the then Attorney-General Qoriniasi Bale in a Senate sitting on March 5, 2004.
In his reply Mr Bale said: “Because it’s ultimate objective is political and not exclusively charitable in character that is why it is not registered in the Charitable Trust Act. The purpose of bodies registered under the Charitable Trust Act must be entirely charitable in character”.
The illegal government of Mahendra Chaudary (yes its not the Pigs anymore) have again received egg all over their face, trying to nail the SDL Party for the Duavata Initiative. The fact is that Duavata Initiative is a legally registered fund therefore its records are open for public consumption. You just need to go to Suvavou House and check with the Registra of Companies!!
However, FIRCA releasing details of the Duavata Inititive tax file and details of reports from its investigation is another thing. It is against the Law and failed to find anything dodgy there that creates controversy. So all this time, the allegations by the Fiji Labour Party about the Duavata Initiative was again more of the same baseless shit they are now reputed to spew out on a regular basis.
Our question is, why has the Fiji Labour Party not had its files and operations open for public scrutiny like that. You only create barriers when you have something to hide.

Vinaka SoliV for highlighting this – this is also a sorry day for Fiji when FIRCA is acting like the Spanish Inquisitor … how dare they continue to release private and confidential details – highly illegal ….. if they can do this for CJ Fatiaki and all the other poor souls in the country, why don’t they do the same to be biggest tax evader in the country ?
It is truly a witch-hunt and a colossal waste of our funds.
In fact why should we be giving any of our $$$ to this illegal govt ?
Yesterday a long term deposit of our mataqali came to fruition and can you imagine our shock to see FIRCA has already pulled a massive % of our hard earned interest. Forget about it!! AND the banks are bloody hopeless. They just eat upp our money daily so why should we be putting our $$ in the bank even any more ?
As the times get meaner and hungrier, people are fending for themselves but we know that is the way of the jungle we are rapidly heading down. Therefore our infrastructure and our public services will suffer more. The little company I work for is really really struggling but we are lucky we have a pragmatic boss who in consultation with us is closing the company down and laying us all off officially … but in reality we will continue to work for him but from another place and we have agreed to be paid with our contributions normally going to FNPF and PAYE money coming direct to us, so that is a good incentive for all of us to keep going.
It boils down to needing to survive however way we can and we will support our boss by doing this.
Maybe some other companies can follow suit as I have seen many businesses close over the last year because the VAT gets paid to FIRCA who never refund on time – how many small companies can cope with this bullshit?
Plus has anyone else noticed how money hungry this iG has become? FIRCA is the worst culprit. FIRCA and Chodo – up yours – we will deal to you in our way!

They didn’t find any corruption to hang on LQ and the SDL so now they’re trying to nail them from another angle.
And they’re running short of time as the ”elections” is just over a year away.By doing so they are trying to rule LQ ineligible to stand according to their so called charter.
But we all know what the constitution says about eligibility so the pig and the ”Chodo charter” is just a waste of time and money.

Well what do you know. mai chodo appeared on tv this evening looking very sedated compared to yesterday’s arrogant outburst and condescending remarks to the reporter. Maybe something is cropping up that had this chor tax evader changing his attitude. He sounded very unlike himself to the point of accepting whatever the landowners decide. and not what he dictates. Regardless of how he tones down he still has to go if the country is to live a back-to-normal life.
Now that the bipolar pig Vore is out who is in charge. Is it still Naiulukau and will it be mai chodo this time. Meanwhile we extend our wholehearted approval for India to adopt into their family one of their biggest sapota the Vore and keep him in India for good.
When I look at the news in the tv I cannot help but notice the people leading everything concerning the direction Fiji is to take dictating and determining the destinies of Fiji and see only Indians at the helm – NBBF, CBUL and what have you.

The last time I advised and asked the two big murderers and choros PIG and his master Choro to be very very careful….and to read the Bible book of Esther and take note of the story of Mordecai vs Haman.
Since then they have backed off for a while, and then we have come to know of the tax evasion and now they are trying to deflect the attention from Choro by trying to hang LQ with their corruption shit as they tried before.
GOD is with LQ and every good citizen of Fiji. The fate of Haman will fell upon Choro and his boy PIG.
Haman was driven and blinded by hatred against Mordecai, (and against the advise of his friends and family) prepared a hanging structure to hang Mordecai publicly when (hoping) given the power by the King to do so, however Haman was hanged from that same structure he prepared for Mordecai.
Therefore folks both these two will be tried and hanged by the same charges they tried to hang LQ with. 1. Treason 2. Corruption ….etc.

Well, i wouldn’t worry too much about Mahen, their BOSS -Bai- is a sick man, we really don’t know what is happening to him?One thing is for sure, he is going nuts? He did not trust anyone in the military,Navy or Police forces. He’s even asked to have private security to look after his schedules? 2 weeks ago, he was sleeping at the QEB officers quater and the next thing we know he came running outside in his own underwear screaming at the top of his lung,about a BIG SNAKE around his neck! My boys had to literally wrestle him to the ground to calm him down, after ward he said he dreamt about a beg snake trying to strangle him to death. “I don’t want anyone to devuldge this to anyone or else”?he said. I’ve said this before to Bai and i’ll say it again, “Give it up Bai”, our ancestors will not allow you or anyone else to destroy the land which God had allocated to our people to look after for ever!! Well, he is in Idia for mental check-up and also he is having a heart problem.This may be a good opportunity to keep him in India permanently.
