This is what happens when you do a deal with the Devil

By solivakasama

Kadavu Provincial Council Chairman sold their rights and broke up our Taukei Unity when $2 easily sold them to the Devil for forty pieces of silver. Lessons learnt, be very very weary when dealing with our enemy!!!

Our advice to the people of Kadavu, with all due respect, kick out your Chairman!!

WITH only a few weeks into their work, the unity of a National Council for Building a Better Fiji team is being threatened by the controversy surrounding Kadavu House.

Ratu Josateki Nawalowa-lo, chairman of the Kadavu Provincial Council, is threatening to pull out of the National Taskforce Team on Growing the Economy if interim Finance Minister Mahendra Chaudhry does not agree to meet with him to clear the air on the issue.

Not only is Ratu Josateki a member of the taskforce, he co-chairs it with Mr Chaudhry.

Yesterday, Ratu Josateki said there was a misunderstanding on Mr Chaudhry’s part over Kadavu House and the issue of ownership.

“I want to talk to Mr Chaudhry on this issue and already asked for an appointment with him for this week so that we can discuss this issue and get some clarification on it,” he said.

“I have no intention of meeting with the interim Prime Minister because this issue has been raised by Mr Chaudhry and if I can meet him and solve this, then there would not be any need for me to meet with the interim PM.”

Last week, Mr Chaudhry had intervened, stopped all rental payment for Kadavu House and recommended an investigation be carried out into the real ownership of the property.

Government forked out $884,882.80 in rent for five months for Kadavu House which remained unoccupied during that time.

In a press statement, Mr Chaudhry had said Kadavu House was not owned by the Kadavu Provincial Council.

Instead, he said, the provincial council was used as a front by Kadavu Holdings Ltd, Kadavu Development Company Ltd and the ousted SDL government to secure favourable treatment under the affirmative action program.

Yesterday, Ratu Josateki said both the companies were owned by the Kadavu Provincial Council.

“More than 80 per cent of shares in Kadavu Develop-ment Ltd is owned by the people of Kadavu, which means it is owned by the Kadavu Provincial Council while the remaining percentage of shares are owned by individuals,” he said.

He said the negotiations to secure government’s agreement to rent the eight-storey building following its completion was made with former interim Public Enterprise Minister Poseci Bune.

He said they could not be blamed for the delay in completing the building because the delay had been caused by government.

“The initial agreement was for the Public Service Commission to move into Kadavu House and so the fittings were being done to accommodate them.

“But then we were informed by Mr Bune that it would be occupied by the Fiji Police Force and so we had to change the fittings which caused this delay.”

Ratu Josateki said they had been accused of not filing their annual returns with the Registrar of Com-panies but they were in the process of doing just that.

“Mr Chaudhry should be questioning the members of his own interim Government. We are co-chairs of the taskforce and I would have appreciated it if he discussed this with me first instead of making it public in the media,” he said.

He said he would wait for Mr Chaudhry to confirm a meeting with him to clear up the misunderstanding.

“If he doesn’t agree then I might also be compelled to pull out my province from its support of the People’s Charter,” he said.

Permanent Secretary in the PM’s Office, Parmesh Chand, said yesterday it was not an issue for the PM’s office to comment on.

He said it was a matter between Mr Chaudhry and Ratu Josateki and it should be discussed by them.

Technical and Support Secretariat director John Samy said he was not aware of the situation nor the decision Ratu Josateki was planning on taking.

“I will have to talk to him (Ratu Josateki) tomorrow,” he said.

Despite our best efforts, Mr Chaudhry could not be reached for a comment yesterday.

sometimes Ratu Jo Nawalowalo has to learn to come down to earth !! understand how to structure commercial undertakings. Its a pity they never used Sir James Ah Koy’s brains in this property dealing.Moce Jo!!

Before it was the Kadavu shipping now its the Kadavu housing….something must be realy wrong somewhere..

  6. Isalei Says:

A conman leading a province(Rt.Nawalowalo) & a conman leading the finances of a country (Chodoman)…bad combination. They spend the time watching each other and can never agree on any deal, lest one out cons the other.

  7. kaiveicoco Says:

the problem here is when the province wants to go into business and commercial undertakings when the groundwork is not really done properly.First up and may be bloggers can sound me out here, are the provincial councils allowed to go into business and do commercial undertakings in the ist place?

  8. ex Fiji Tourist Says:

The whole country and the international community knows that chaudhry’s moronic military junta is illegal and inept.

It is great to see the young people speaking out as they fear for their future under this pointless rabble.

“Update: 11.57am The Young People’s Concerned Network is disappointed with the actions of the Interim Government and the acting Chief Justice Justice Anthony Gates in appointing appeals judges when their legitimacy (offices of acting CJ and interim AG) were in question before the courts.

Spokesperson for the Network Peter Waqavonovono said in their view the panel of appeals judges although experienced in their own right were opportunists and puppets of the state.

“They carry with them into the highest court in the nation questionable agendas__their Gender, Race, and Age are irrelevant and do not change the fact that they their appointments are illegal and unconstitutional,” said Mr Waqavonovono.

He said the panel of Appeals Judges refused to renew and revoked their contracts after examining the conditions of illegality and the level of interference within the judiciary.”

  9. Tosotiko Says:

Yeah right, Jim Ah Koy’s brain went into overdrive for the Bulou ni Ceva project and what a debacle that one has turned out to be.

So Ratu Jo, this should teach you never to sleep with the enemy. If it wasn’t evident to you then, it should be now i.e. the real agenda of this IG – to completely disinherit and reduce the Fijians to paupers.

  10. Lau Lass Says:

Memu sici $2 Rt Jo, Via tabetabe tiko vei iratou na illegal govt, choroman now turns around & bites you, kemu we told you so, CHOROMAN is there for himself not for you or anybody else.

  11. LAILAI NA DINA Says:

My understanding is that the Suvavou house was vacant for more than 12months after the Rabuka govt sighed the contract. What a waste;.is’nt it common sense to start payment at point of occupation.

  12. Maqa a Leqa Says:

I think that the yaqona business has lost its attractiveness. Now Nawalowalo is in to the real estate business. Maybe more money to be made there on the side!

    Moce Jo!

  13. Soul of Fiji Says:

And Choro is no ordinary evil angel, HE IS the right hand man of Lucifer aka Satan.

  14. Veitiri Says:

CHoro..you know Satan, qo ga na brother.

  15. natewaprince Says:

Well we can also geuss who owns some of the 20% shares not owned by the provincial council.

It might be that the fat assed gas bag has hocked the family jewels and bought major shares in Kadavu Holdings.

Sa voleka sara na domo dali vei koya na namu qo.Vinaka mada ga ni sa na oti na namu mai na Union Club.

  16. Tosotiko Says:

Definitely ‘Lailai Na Dina’. It makes more sense to start paying when you start occupancy. But when you have told the landlord you will move in at such and such a date, you start paying from that date because he has reserved that spot for you and he is not free to offer it to someone else.

They say they will pay from August when they will move in. Between now and August, the Kadavu House financier will continue to expect repayments whilst the property is not giving returns to the owners. Are they free to pull out from the contract with the government at any time?
Or do they have to compensate the government if they offer it someone else?

This is just the kind of thing Maka Chodo specialises in. Making the naive Fijians feel guilty that fellow Fijians are collecting such huge sums of money and making them believe that they are con-men. Taking advantage of the fact, that these naive Fijians do not know the rules of the game.

The IG was the inconsistent one in this deal. First it was the Police moving in and the fittings were done for them. Then it was the PSC and the Kadavu Holdings changed the fittings again.

But then again, serve you right Rt Jo. Let’s see you resign from participating in the Devil’s Charter.

  17. kaiveicoco Says:

I feel for Kadavu and its people.Ratu Jo Nawalowalo threatens to pull out his province support for the Peoples Charter !! And he says other province will follow suit.LOL did the Kadavu people in the first place voted for him to join the NCBBF? or did he come right from the union club to the tradewinds hotel for the ist charter meeting?does he have influence over other province,i think NOT !!

  18. Babasiga Kid Says:

    Kaiveicoco;

It seems to me that Ratu jo is in need of the charter allowance .Now that his done a backflip proves that this guy is a caution

  19. freddie Says:

we should all know that there is “no honour among thievs” se what u guys reckon??

  20. Budhau Says:

This wasn’t a deal with the Choroman. Nawalowalo had made his deal with the SDL.

While I totally agree with you guys that this IG should be replaced with a democratically government and those involved in the coup should be sent to jail, lets us not overlook what Qarase & Company were upto.

  21. marcopolo Says:

Democracy rules….. there is no reason or excuse in this world for the coup. Clean up corruption or my ass……you have to deal with your complains the right way..take it to court, dialogue, brain popwer, reasoning etc etc….not with the guns not with guns.
The Last qovernment was voted in and will be voted out if they didnt do a good job.
Frank and Mahend were wrong for what they did. They will answer for it.
