From the Fiji Times Letters to the Editor Column – Vinaka Kenneth

By solivakasama

The formation and the meeting of the National Council for Building a Better Fiji at the Raffles Tradewinds in Lami is a waste of time and taxpayers money.

It is another attempt by the interim regime to blindfold people of this country of its own wrongdoings and illegality.

The initial 45 members could not be attained and 25 were forced to join.

I say thank you to those courageous people for not joining the futile and illegal exercise whose recommendations will only end up on the shelves of the President’s Office and gather dust.

I read the opening speeches delivered at the inaugural meeting by the President, Ratu Josefa Iloilo, interim Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama and Archbishop Petero Mataca.

There were a lot of beautiful and colourful words used such as mutual co-operation, dialogue, progress, justice, prosperity and sustainability.

Not one of the speakers admitted that the present political leadership of this country was illegal and wrong and came to power at the barrel of a gun.

They all chose to ignore the stark fact that the interim regime is illegal, unwarranted, unjustified and morally wrong.

Not one suggested that political leadership should be given back to those democratically elected by the people of this country in 2006.

The so-called People’s Charter they are trying to formulate is premised on an illegal base. I mean they are starting off on the wrong foot.

No wonder many people in the country have rejected it. While the charter’s motives might have the noblest of ideas, it still does not make it right because the sponsors of the charter are the very people who removed a democratically-elected government with the barrel of a gun and by force.

Then they tell us that the way forward for Fiji and its people is for all to accept reality. What reality?

The only reality we have are the untold miseries we all suffer from such as unsolved murders, human rights abuse, economic decline, increasing unemployment, increase in fuel prices, increase in bus fares, increasing crime rate and international bans.

A charter will not solve these problems; it will only aggravate them.

The way forward is for Commodore Bainimarama and the military to admit to their crime of staging the coup in 2006 and await sentencing by the court just as George Speight did with his 2000 coup.

I am still awaiting a justification of the 2006 coup, if any, and I have not heard of any SDL minister going to jail for official corruption.

Subsequently, the elected government should be reinstated and if the President still feels they are incompetent then he should dissolve Parliament and call for an election.

But to go the other way and hoodwink this country with a charter the majority rejects is a recipe for disaster. A charter can only be put in place by an elected government and by a national referendum, not by an illegal regime.

The faster and quicker people who were at the Raffles Tradewinds the other day realise this, the better for them and for this country.

Vinaka Vakalevu Kenneth you are a champ! Your letter was the best insight into the actions of this illegal Regime.

Hang in there Kenneth, your time will come as a leader, for you are a good man with pure, honest intentions!

I admire your tenacity and can see how you are passionate about the cause of your letter. Please keep it coming for you are the voice of many. It is through letters like yours that people can influence their Govt’s choice of Policies in what we hope will Fiji’s next elections, March next year!

    Vinaka again and God Bless.

  2. natewaprince Says:

Isn’t it funny to hear the pigs say that the charter is not there to replace the constitution, but to work with and alongside it.

This would be like serving two masters, one real and the other false.Or compare it to Satan trying influence man to follow his teachings.

  3. natewaprince Says:

And yet again on TV we see Chodo-bastard trying to strangle the tourism industry by attacking overseas internet land sales and further taxing the hoteliers.

Recently ,it was first Fiji Water, then FDB loan policies, and now the tourism industry. What the hell is on this assholes agenda??

And he even has the gall to keep bringing up the subject of improving tax collection by FIRCA.

CHODO YOU BASTARD,PAY YOUR BLERRY TAX YOU BLERRY THIEF!!!!!!

  4. vashanoy Says:

this man chodo is not focus on production,he only focus on rubbish that become unfinished bussiness and his only making noises.

  5. Peace Pipe Says:

If we scrutinise the membership carefully it is quite heavy with Indian and FLP partcipation since they have willingly accepted the offer to join since it is their coup. However the large number of confirmed members do not represent the majority of the people in Fiji and the they quite wary of that. They know that it would have the credibilty they need if it lacks maority support. So we have cheerleaders like nawalowalo urging people to join. Give us break you stupid greedy opportunist like everyone else on board. We have more morals to fall for that crap this fat bum harping about. Let bind together and pray that the wall of defence against this evil force in the IG will stand firm and strong and that those who did not accept the offer remain firm in their principled decision.

  6. Endurance Says:

    Go Kenneth…you the man!

Sa rawa ga ni dua nodra mata orgy na National Council for Building a Corrupt Fiji. Me tu sara ga i liu o Diaper Peresitedi….ena yali vakadua na Parkinson Disease…..!!

  7. KuitaMada Says:

Thanks Kenneth for speaking the words many of us are thinking. We need more people to stand up and speak plainly like this without fear! This is what leadership is all about, call a spade a spade and stick by your guns. Not like Beddoes, talk all about the illegality yet willing to join in. This charter is not even worthy to sit on the presidents shelves, its proper place is as toilet paper in the prisons.

  8. lauan boy Says:

I recall clearly Ratu Mara’s interview before his passing @Lomaloma that aired on Fiji TV. when he talked about the time the commander of RFMF & Police Commissioner approached him to step down. while accepting the request – he specifically said Fiji will never have a president…..now looking at the present arsehole useless braindead president…now I realise his meaning of his very words.

  9. BulaBula Says:

Lauan boy does that mean that Mara & Gaunilau were indispensable after all.

It is not good for Fiji and I think that these 2 leaders are to blame for not grooming heirs and stayed in power for too long because they thought they were indispensable.

Fiji needs philosophers like Ratu Joni who is a pacifist with a moral and legal way of thinking. Under Ratu Joni should be people like Kenneth Zinck, people’s person who is ruthless when he needs to be and not afraid to voice his opinions.

I blame Mara & Gaunilau for the way they sided with Rabuka, a commoner instead of taking the legal path in the first coup of 1987. Hello to the demise of Fiji’s chiefly system and the coup culture. They allowed Rabuka too much rope.

  10. LUVfiji Says:

I think Ratu Mara said that because at the time he thought he was indispensable to the country and that he was the only one fit and qualified to be President. Even though his leadership was rejected by the people at the polls when his party lost to the Bavadra-led Labours. But it was the barrel of the gun that brought Mara back.

Wasn’t it the barrel of the same gun that unceremoniously removed him from power!

And, the country witnessed the barrel of the same gun that fired endlessly, backed by artilleries, when the State farewelled him at his funeral. E vica vata na kena 21-gun salute… sa bera gonei!

  11. Adi Kaila Says:

Vinaka Vakalevu to Kenneth Zinck who has been bold enough to state his views honestly.

What he has written is so right & is exactly what we have been espousing here.

As for the president – poor old thing seems to reside on a different planet to the rest of us.

We must strive to get Ratu Joni Madraiwiwi to be President of Fiji – Ratu Joni & his siblings have the closest & most direct blood ties to Ratu Sir Lala Sukuna.

  12. BulaBula Says:

I agree Adi Kaila. We must keep striving to get people like Ratu Joni and Kenneth back but not sure about Micky Mouse Beddoes.

Has anyone found out his reasons for attending that meeting at the Trade Winds?

  13. Maqa a Leqa Says:

The biggest problem with the current situation is that we have a weak, incapable, good for nothing, useless, wannabe and “in for the benefits” President.

If we had a President who could think for himself then the military would not be having everything for themselves.

E sa rui gone ga na watina so he has to provid3e for her. Sa sega na servicing so he has to give money.

  14. LUVfiji Says:

Indeed.. let us strive to restore Ratu Joni and make him President. And, let us not forget, Ratu Jo Nawalowalo wants to be VP. LOL!

  15. Adi Kaila Says:

oilei – jo nawalowalo should be VP for the Ministry of ‘choke’ – more apt.

As for the presidents wife – if she’s young why doesn’t she haul ass & get herself a job to support the pair of them. I’m sure she’s more than capable of mowing a lawn or pouring beer in a hotel to earn a dollar or two.

I suppose it’s better for them to help chodo & vore bankrupt Fiji.

    Can’t speak the Maciu!

  16. LUVfiji Says:

No, housekeeping is her acquired skill, sweetie!

One resort in savusavu; qai dau lave kateni i na pontoon.. now sitting at the No. 1 residence. Guise tiko vei koya… lol!

  17. Soro Says:

Hahaha… Thats the kind who can get money on their backs to support the frail Pressy! Na Koro Resort…. Isa na waraki iko tiko o avenai mai na wavu i savusavu… kila the stairs that lead to the bottom of the wharf..

Waraki iko talega o Moon my Naqere (Mrs.President), Kila na vei paini near the reservoir on your way to savudrodro… lol… kabawaqa…kilai tu na nomu i talanoa.
